Why we need a Linux version of Rekordbox

Wannacry only infected old unpatched versions of windows.  + there is Mac which wasn't affected by that, so it's not the best reason to port to Linux.

And if you really are worried about it, pick up something like hitmanpro.alert that protects against cryptoware for like $30 instead of asking pioneer to spend untold sums of money to port and support Linux which has a pretty small consumer user base.

There is no rationale for porting Rekordbox to Linux, at all. The notion that Linux offer more safety than Windows is also wrong. In fact, more and more Linux distributions struggle with profound lacks in their security code. The most recent one, being the UDP exploit in the kernel.

The built-in security measures in Windows 10, that be Microsoft Defender, is perhaps the fastest updated security software out there today, completely free of charge, and built right into your system. Simply make sure you update frequently, and do a system scan every now and then.

That being said; no operating system, no security software or appliance will ever fix a broken user. If you click- and open shit on the Internet, you're going to get bit eventually.

Also it might help (security wise) if you use a user account on your Windows computer that doesnt have full admin rights. Yes it's annoying you need to give more permissions on every day use, but it offers higher security.

don't want to argue about security, although i'm pretty sure linux is way more secure if set up correctly than windows - but what is definitely clear is that linux is way more stable! and that's the number one pro-argument for using dj-software on  a linux system.

nothing is more annoying than a hanging system during a dj-gig!
