Left speaker not working DM-40

I set up my speakers and they sounded distorted. But one I went to my audio settings and panned the speakers, I realized my right speaker (slave speaker/speaker w/o the inputs) was working amazingly. But then I panned to the left and the distortion was disgusting. It would be distorted if the volume on the left was just over quiet. Any help?
