DJM 900 driver incompatible with OS X Lion
Just did an install of OS X Lion yesterday. Traktor loaded up fine and detected the DJM 900 but the timecode has stopped working entirely. It doesn't detect any timecode at all. I opened up the DJM 900 Driver utility and it said "there is a problem with the driver configuration. Please reinstall the drivers" I have done that and the same line keeps showing up in the about section of the driver utility.

God damnit. I just ran into this same thing. Now I have to go searching for my Snow Leopard installation disc so I can downgrade. Thanks for the heads up Pioneer.
How long do you think it'll take Pioneer to release an update for this? I don't have my Snow Leopard DVD and I have a show this Saturday. Really need to get my timecode working.
Hey, I just bought the DJM900 this afternoon, and as soon as I installed everything and plugged all the cables, I got the same error message!! I was very disappointed to see that message, Pioneer should have posted a message altering all new customers about this! I purchased this mixer to upgrade from the 800, just because of the traktor connectivity, and ended up in the same place.
How soon can we expect Pioneer to catch up to new operating system Lion OSX??!?!?
The engineers are working hard on a fix for this problem, along with the OS X 10.6.8 recording issues with the DJM-900 as well. A fix will be coming fairly soon.
Heads up if you downgrade to Snow Leopard, my advice is not to upgrade OS X firmware back to 10.6.8 because of the recording issues. Upgrade as high as possible (if possible) but if you upgrade to 10.6.8 you will most likely have recording issues using the build in soundcard.
Just a though, but if you are using CDJ-2000's, CDJ-900's, CDJ-850's, CDJ-400's, or CDJ-350's; have you guys maybe thought about using the USB connection with Traktor in HID mode instead of using timecode?

Why hasn't there been an update? Pioneer has had plenty of time to return to me a functionality I paid them $1,800 for.

Bumping is extremely frustrating. Pulse and I trawl through every thread and read every notification - when we know more we post it on the forums to insure you are made aware - that's why we have a while Firmware, Drivers and Software update section.

No. Because what's extremely frustrating in your example is the unruly-ness and the constant asking from the backseat passengers.
I'm not unruly. I'm not a backseat passenger. I'm a customer with a small issue and this thread hadn't seen a reply or update in a month.
If people had been bumping this like crazy for no reason I would understand, but being barked out after the first reply was kinda outta line. Maybe Pulse was having a bad day?
Apart from this, keep up the good work though guys it is much appreciated.
i don't understand why people upgrade their system software without waiting for all their key applications to be either proven to work without problems or updates to be available.
what i fail to understand even more, is people blaming pioneer. its not pioneers fault is it?
It wasn't Pioneer's fault a month ago, but it's slowly nearing that point. They have had a month, so far, to figure this out. Even if they don't have any substantial progress, they could at least let me know that they're putting an effort into it.
It's been a while and Pioneer hasn't even acknowledged the problem in any official way. A month ago, they could have put a statement out addressing this issue, which would have prevented any further disgruntlement from Pioneer customers, but, since this would have probably effected the DJM 900's sales, they decided to keep quiet.
Also, what about the people who already have upgraded to Lion, THEN purchased a DJM 900 without any knowledge of the incompatibility. It's not their fault is it?
i appreciate your frustration in not having your mixer working, but anyone with any experience of working with computers in a professional environment knows that you don't update your OS until you know that all the drivers / software you need will be compatible. this is really basic stuff.
if you're just about to shell out £1700 on a mixer then you should research its compatibility with a brand new OS... this very thread starts with talk of the problem on the day the lion was released. it's also the the first search result in google when you type in 'djm900 lion'. again, basic stuff.
why don't you just downgrade to snow leopard in the meantime - it could be weeks/months before there's a driver update?
@Phil909 For the record, and speaking just for myself, I'm not frustrated at the driver issue. It is what it is and I'm sure Pioneer is working hard on this and many other things.
I just wanted a quick update and was a bit ticked off at Pulse's reply. That is all.
I have some issues regarding this 900 have 2 of them in of club and a djm2000 plus 5 djm800s. and i am just not happy with the echo effect on it the depth on it just is way to touchy and the output sound quality just doesnt have the punch and warmness as the 2000 and if you really drive the outputs on it you can really hear the distortion. our venue is full of all pioneer gear so i would like pioneer aware that also that auto stand bye function should of never been put in. cause it shut down in middle of a headliners set there is no need for that option.
I have same problem mac OS X lion on my DJM 900 Nexus so I decided switch to Window 7 Ultimate(Black) will do better job
Dude go away. This isn't a place to advertise for your software that no one here cares about.
Traktor itself works fine on Lion. It's just the DJM 900 driver.

@ Phil > I agree that it is not Pioneer's fault because the issue was actually because of a Mac OS X software update. Although, I wouldn't blame others for upgrading their OS because I think we all would assume updates are fairly stable now and would not consist of a problem such as the recording issue. It's not really anyones fault to be honest.

Pioneer is not trying to keep it quiet, if they were, this thread would have vanished a while ago and any talk about it would have been stopped on these forums. Yes it is an issue, but it is not a complete deal-breaker as it's a software compatibility issue that can and will be fixed. If it was something such as a defect with the DJM-900, then we should expect a press release or some type of public notification and announcement to potential and existing customers. Please do not take your frustration out so vigorously when the issue will be fixed.

If it's un-used and has no information sent or received by it, then it will shut off, but in the middle of a set... I don't see how that's possible if they were using it.

Sorry Pulse, but yesterday was released a new DJM5000 OSX 1.07 compatible driver.......about DJM900?!?!? The software team isn't the same people for every DJM-mixer? Please ask if release the update for DJM900+Lion.....

21 July!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Gavin.......it's OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!!! I think next month i will sell my DJM900 and i will buy Traktor S4.....
Pioneer isn't the only hardware manufacturer who hasn't yet released full driver sets for their products -- the engineers are still working hard to deliver updates for Lion-compatible drivers and we will announce their release here, and on various social-media channels as well when they are available.

the problem is not the "lion driver". Even the latest versions of Snow Leopard registration doesn't work.
@pulse - How can you say that? Thats exactly what it is. The lack of a feature on a product reduces functionality.
