@michel > Kevin started a new thread here: http://forums.pioneerdj.com/entries/20681206-djm900-bpm-readout-does-not-work-as-advertised

I messaged Pulse on this matter and I agree with him that the DJM-900 follows the BPM as accurately as it can in the video that Kevin provided. The DJM-900 does not receive the entire waveform of tracks and thus cannot predict a 100% accurate BMP all the time. It uses what information is being provided from the CDJ and tries to calculate the BPM based on how the song is reacting. Since the song provided in the video doesn't have much for the DJM-900 to pick up and calculate, it does it's best with what frequencies are being provided.

Hopefully that thread will explain things a bit better.

You will get an answer when we have one, you can thank Kevin for the lock on that thread.

There's really nothing to have an answer for; the solution is either playing consistent BPM songs, pressing the TAP button once for those which aren't, or using the LINK for quantized beatgrid track data.

I think thats not a good answer. I think nobody at Pioneer have checked this.

I diddn's see any test report or so.

I will send a mail to Pioneer straight and see what they know.

yeah, they came out with a FW update in June to help with accuracy of bpm

2012-06-27

Firmware from 1.210 to 1.260

This update includes:

BEAT EFFECT

- Improved the accuracy of AUTO BPM

- When any of MELODIC, ROLL, REV ROLL and SLIP ROLL is selected, regardless of whether the effect is on or off, if the [CUE] button of [Beat Effects] is pressed, original sound without effect will be output from this update

- Fixed an issue that slight noise may be heard during operating the X-PAD

- Fixed an issue that the volume level of ROLL, REV ROLL and SLIP ROLL is not always stable

- Fixed an issue that effect sound is not always output when REV ROLL is enabled immediately after ROLL is enabled

SOUND COLOR FX

- Improved the response time when pressing the SOUND COLOR FX buttons
