[SOLVED] RMX-1000 MIDI Implementation

Hello all,

I'm quite keen using this effects unit as an out-board unit, connecting it up to my audio interface as a send and return on my DAW's main mixer. I can't envisage an issue with this, as I have tested my DAW, audio interface and another effects unit in the same configuration successfully.

I also note that the RMX-1000 can be used as a MIDI controller. I use Propellerhead Reason, which doesn't provide native support for VSTs or AUs, meaning I can't use the bundled VST plugin to affect the sound *using software*. I can however pipe the actual audio through the device using the afforementioned send&return configuration. What I am very keen on is the ability to remotely control the RMX-1000 via USB using MIDI - does the MIDI implementation within the Windows driver and the device itself support this kind of remote control?

I've seen videos of the Remixbox software in use, which looks like it shows the device being remotely controlled by Remixbox and applying effects to the audio source currently being piped through the RMX-1000. How is this done?

Ultimately, I'm trying to find out whether I can create sequenced automation MIDI commands in Reason to allow live control of the RMX-1000's functions. Thanks a lot for your help.

Alistair

The RMX doesn't accept inbound MIDI for automation, sorry - that would be what the plugins are for.

Hi,

Do you if it would it be possible to connect the Rmx-1000 to a DJ Ergo? And if so, how would that work?

Thanks, jan-Willem.

@Jan > You could connect the RMX after the master-output of a DDJ-ERGO. Your audio would be mixed on the ERGO, sent to the RMX, then from the RMX to whatever your output device is - be it a pair of speakers, a stereo amplifier or a computer.
