CDJ1000 Mk2 - Error Code E-6002

Hi,

Today I noticed an error on my CDJ1000 Mk2 and I hope you can help me.  The error first became apparent when I played a track - within one minute of playback the track suddenly changed to a very high speed and then randomly kept changing speed.  I turned on/off the CDJ and then an error message popped up "E-6002".  After a few more restarts, I got the CDJ working ok.  But after that DJ session, I had lunch and then came back to play another session, but now the CDJ will not play any tracks.  I notice that the jog dial monitor shows the track needle spinning wildly when I press cue or play - but no sound is played.

Hope you can help me.

@Philip > Are you using a commercially pressed CD or one you burned yourself? Have you tried another CD and do you get the same result? Have you been able to reproduce the issue?

Hi Gavin,

Thanks for replying to my message.  The problem starts before any CD is loaded in.  I turn on the CDJ and notice there is a slight 2 second delay before the screen loads up.  When it does load, the error message 'E-6002' pops up.  When this happens I turn on/off the CDJ until it eventually starts up properly i.e. it shows 00min00seconds00frames.

When I loaded a burned CD I noticed the symptoms I described in my first post.  I loaded a commercial CD as per your suggestion this morning but I was in a rush and had only a few minutes to test it out - during that time I didn't experience the track needle spinning wildly however I noticed some extra symptoms:

  • upon pressing pause, the cue and play/pause buttons flash but the track continues playing

  • on vinyl mode, pressing the platter has no effect on the music; but if I scratch in one direction the music will play in that direction but with no change in speed

  • moving the tempo control had no effect on the speed

  • turning off master tempo while the tempo control is not at the zero point had no effect on pitch.

Regarding your last two questions, yes I have tried with many burnt CDs and got the same result i.e. I have been able to reproduce the issue.  This sounds like an issue in the software embedded in the CDJ - do you agree?

@Philip > I've done a little digging and it seems you will have to follow Pulse's advice and bring it for a repair at an authorised service centre.
