[SOLVED] CDJ-1000 MK2 fuse issue

Hi,

I've recently bought a pair of CDJ 1000 MK2's (second hand). After the first gig (>8 hours of  continuous usage), one of them just died on me (no LCD activity, buttons didn't work etc.).

I've sent it to one of the Pioneer services listed on my country's official site and they've told me the fuse is the cause for this. They've changed the fuse and sent it back, but after keeping it on for about 2hr, the same problem occurred.

After sending it back to the service company, they said they've changed the fuse again and also discovered that a transistor was the cause. Needless to say that the next time I used the gear, it died again after a few hours.

I've sent it to another Pioneer service (the main service contact for Romania) and they said that they've fixed the problem... I've been able to use it for about 4hr in total, and of course, it died again.

At the moment I'm really very dissapointed and I have no clue on how to go on with this. I would really appreciate if someone here could give me a hint on what the problem could be or where should I send it. If the official Pioneer service people weren't able to fix my issue, where can I go next?? At the moment I don't even care how much it costs (unless it's the price of a new device), I just need to get it fixed. I've lost more money because of transport and service than probably it would have costed me to replace the whole circuit board.

Please help me in this issue. Thank you.

Sebastian

@Sebastian > Unfortunately we can only direct you to technical support. I would recommend you ask the authorised service centre in your area how you should go about having it fixed. This would be the quickest port of call.

Failing that, I'll bring it up with Pioneer Europe and see what can be done.

I'd stop plugging things into that outlet if you keep having electrical problems!

Seriously though, have you considered that the power might be a problem at that location?

Well obviously the outlet is not the problem, since it crashed on me in different locations (three times in clubs, once at home) and the second CDJ and the mixer works perfectly.

You didn't say that in the original post.  ;)

I would contact the Pioneer service center and explain that you've had it fixed 3 times and the problem persists.  If they've repaired the same problem before and it still occurs, they didn't really "fix" the problem did they?  You paid for a fix, so they should address that for you.

This is just a thought ... do u have any clue how burning hot it can get inside a CDJ1000 ...if I think about it this could easy change the fuses threshold ... if it were me id install 2mini fans inside Ur CDJ ONE BLOWING HOT AIR OUT AND ONE PULLING COOL AIR INSIDE.

@Damin > NO! Don't open up your CDJs at all or make any mods - you risk damaging the unit or hurting yourself.

With the 1000s, keep the back vents free / unblocked and you shouldn't have any problems.

and if they are getting hot how about a external room fan just blowing air over the heat sinks @ the back ...
