First time using a usb flash drive after formatting - acting strange

Anyone found something strange after inserting, for the first time after formatting, a usb flash drive into cdj2000's?

Before adding the first files on a fresh formatted usb flash drive, i choose the the display color, the categories i want to see ......     .

When connecting the flash drive to my cdj2000's for the first time, i see the categories (on the cdj display) are ordered in a very different way than the way i ordered them in rekordbox just a few seconds before. The sort categories as well.

I have to connect the flash drive back to my pc and rearrange them. Now the cdj2000's will show them the right way.

It happened a few times.

Today something even stranger happened.

Didn't formatted the flash drive, but added some playlists, changed the display color.

Connected the flash drive to the cdj's and played same tracks. Realized the unlock/lock switch was in the lock position . With all that i was able to change the track while the cdj was playing (using the rotary selector).

Disconnected the flash drive from the cdj's, connected to my pc and rekordbox, then connected back to cdj player. Works fine now. It won't let me change the track with the rotary selector if the music is playing and the switch is in lock position. However it will let me change it using the track search buttons.

By the way, the track search buttons are not affected by the unlock/lock switch ?

I posted in rekordbox forum because i think is more related to it and the way it prepares the flash drive , than to the cdj players

@Marian > Have you the players firmware and rekordbox updated to the most recent releases?

When the button is set in the LOCK position you cannot eject a CD, change the track using the rotary selector or use the needle strip function. You can, however, use the track search buttons.

Yes, i have the latest updates, i've specified this in my previous post either.

Didn't knew i shall not be able to use the needle strip when the switch is in LOCK position. Just checked that out and is working, i can make use of all of it's functions even when the switch is in lock position !!!

Are u sure the needle strip functions should not work ? Which functions ?

@Marian > This is a prime example of why I shouldn't walk away from my computer while writing a response. I'm sorry, you CAN use the needle strip to search for a track while in lock mode (there is a separate sort of lock mode which prevents the use of the needle search strip from skipping through the track while the track is playing).

There are some display differences between Rekordbox and the CDJ - for instance, if I organize my music into playlists AA, CC and BB then they will be displayed from top to bottom as AA, CC and BB. If you then export these to a USB device they will display on the CDJ in alphabetical order unless you actually go into the USB device through Rekordbox and organize them how you want. So what you describe seems absolutely normal.

First of all i want to mention that this problem does not bothering me, i am not formatting my usb flash drives every day, i'm just posting it because might be the cause of other problems, for instance, the switch that didn't do it's job at that time .

Almost every time i used a usb flash drive for the first time, after formatting, small strange things have happened. They vanish after reconnecting the flash drive to rekordbox.

I'll explain it again and ill try to be more precise.

In rekordbox, device tab, when the usb flash drive is sellected, there are  4 vertical tabs in the right side (general, category, sort, color).

In category and sort tabs, you can choose which ones u want to see (on cdj 2000 display), and to arrange in order.

eg:

playlist

artist

track

folder

Well, the first time i connected my usb flash drive to the cdj2000 players, they "overlook" my arrangements and show the categories in different way.

eg:

artist

folder

track

playlist

This arrangement can only be set in rekordbox and the cdj2000 shall show them this way. However, they seem to have problems reading this information the first time i plug in the usb flash drive (or rekordbox fails to write the correct data). I need to reconnect the flash drive to rekordbox, rearrange the categories, then the cdj2000's will show the categories the way it should

I thought that this can cause other bigger problems. Just wanted to let u know

Or, who knows, might be just an isolated problem caused just by my flash drive.
