DDJ SX Microphone Distorted

I'm back from my first gig with the new ddj sx and im very impressed overall but there is one thing that has me very discouraged. The Microphone output signal sounds extremely distorted. Hopefully i am making a silly mistake and someone here can help me. this is a potential deal-breaker as the microphone is very important for what i do....(and toasts)
