I find it really strange how different units appear to have different issues for instance my unit does not work with rekordbox as in it does not see the database file and no settings work either :-(
Hi there, Last week i bought the XDJ-R1 after trying it out at a local store. Aftre testing it and noticing this machine had the latest firmware update i bought it. I checked this forum and you tube and was/am aware of the malfunctions with the previous firmware versions. So far it looked like the latest firmware did the job.......until ....! I find some trouble with Hot Cue's ( either set in rekordbox as on the R1 itself). When i have Quantize turned on the hot cue does not return to the actual starting position: sometimes it does but mostly it doesn't. After experimenting to turn off Quantize that problem was gone: all cue points work accurate... Second problem is when i search a track (using rekordbox with a Kingston 32GB USB 3.0 Data traveller 100g) it occasionally freezes the system: it still keeps on playing the other deck but the possibility to searchc through rekordbox is frozen. Only thing that will work is to shut it off and restart again. Overali think this is a very interesting machine that can be very succesful, but i keep on thinking either Pioneer has introduced it too soon without testing it enough, or because of its interesting price range the quality is way more less than the normal Pioneer products. Another question is, and maybe that is where the whole problem starts, why the R1 needs a specific rekordbox library? Could this be due to a less compatible processor which has trouble with processing all the data? Just thinking out loud, but maybe someone has a logical explenaition for this?

@kelvin: do you make a special R1-library? Cause mine shows playlist i make ( not folders actualy)
@Coenie If I have dont it right, I have imported a couple of folders and they have been analised by recordbox. I have made sure it is set to xdj-r1 in preferences and when I eject the drive it says creating database but does it in a couple of seconds or so. Am I doing this right? how do you create your database?
Thanks
Kelvin
@kelvin: all i do is import my music files in my collection, create my playlists, export them to my usb stick (with R1 library) and that works. It even still works on some cdj's....
hmmm not tried creating play lists will try it that later. thanks for the help. it is appreciated
@Kelvin > It sounds exactly like you haven't created a database file for the XDJ-R1 on your USB stick and hence why you cannot see the data. Do you use rekordbox with other rekordbox-enabled hardware?
Hi Gavin
Thanks very much for your reply, I was being silly with rekordbox as it's the first time I have used it. I added tracks to the collection and then ejected the drive to create the database not knowing you had to export the tracks which another user has pointed out. I am very happy with the R1 and love it. The only issue that I have as others is the error code when loading avicii tracks tc.
Thanks again
Kelvin
@Kelvin > Ok good stuff, thanks for reporting back. In relation to the Avicii tracks, where did you get them from / what format are they etc? Have you tried scanning them with mp3val perhaps?
Hi Gavin,
The tracks were purchased from DMC download. I will have a look at the software you mentioned but the tracks load and play absolutely fine if playing just from the folder view it seems to be when you use the rekordbox database ie get to avicii from the artist category
Thanks
Kelvin.
@Kelvin > Just following up... Any difference since?
Hi Gavin,
I have scanned the avicii tracks with mp3val and they are fine, they play fine from the folder as well it's just when the are analised with rekordbox they wont play and the funny thing is i also have problems playing UB40 tracks and they show up ok in mp3val and can be plaed from the folder view.
Hope this helps
Kelvin
Hi gavin I NEED YOUR HELP URGENT
I have a couple of tracks that are were playing up last night, just past the intro the tracks would stutter and sound like it was constantly cutting out. I ran these tracks through two mp3 checkers including the mp3val that you mentioned. I tried these tracks again this morning and one was doing the same but the other one wasn't now here is the problem the tracks only seem to be a problem on the left deck of the R1n but absolutely fine on the right deck. This is very worrying as it was embarrassing last night and don't want this to happen again. On the plus side I used the R1 last night with the ipad for 5 hours constant and not one single problem only the one with the tracks on the left deck i mentioned.
Please could you get back to me on this as it is urgent.
Thanks
Kelvin
This is strange, it is now doing it on the right deck and I am beginning to think it is a hard disk problem as the main problematic track was bryan adams summer of 69 which plays fine from the folder i have his album in but i have it in a 'party favourites' folder and from this folder the track gives me problems so i copied the track from his album back into this folder and it played fine once but now has issues. I am thinking maybe the hard drive has had it and I a about to try another hard drive and I will let you know how I get on.
Kelvin
Apologies for the panic, it seems the hard drive is playing up which never occurred to me and thought it was strange just the two tracks were being a pain to play.
Kelvin
THANK YOU Gavin and the engineers
Thanks to you all the avicii and the other tracks that had error codes now play fine and not just that the tracks I mentioned about the sound cutting out we're even doing it last night but since the update they play fine as we'll.
So Thank You again the R1 is now perfect to me now :-)
Kelvin
@Kelvin > I wish it had come a little faster but I'm glad we could resolve your issues. Thanks for reporting back!
