[OPEN] XDJ-R1 can't find my HDD anymore after 1.09 firmware update.

Last night I cried my eyes out.

I updated my XDJ-R1 (1.09 firmware) before my gig.

Everything connected and finally it was time to connect my HDD, like I did the past 6 months.

Display showed USB -> EMPTY

Huh? What is happening here...

I still had hope because my Remotebox (latest version) was loading on my iPad.

He found my new library (on the HDD) and all the tracks appeared in the Remotebox browser.

That puts a smile back on my face :)

So I selected a song, wanted to load it to Deck 1, but that wasn't possible anymore.

Every track I tried wasn't able to load :((((

Put my HDD in a CDJ2000 and there wasn't any problem, so why the text: USB EMPTY on my XDJ-R1 ???

@home I connected my HDD to my computer and there was the library "contents" with all my songs.

All my settings in Rekordbox 2.2.1 were still the same.

And yes, export library to "XDJ-R1".

So why this strange issue after the 1.09 firmware update?

USB works fine but I can't use my HDD anymore.... (it worked fine the past 6 months and CDJ2000 sees no problems)

Help me pioneer, because I can't use my XDJ-R1 in combination with my HDD anymore.

It could still be your Hard Drive, had this problem when mine became corrupt, went on the internet and downloaded - MiniAide Fat32 Formatter Home Edition 1.05, then I formatted it using this programme, and eureka!!, now working perfect, not saying that's what it is but I tried formatting it with the standard Fat 32 setting and it didn't wan't to know.

Ive been having it on my XDJ R1 as well,

1st i tried running a checkdisk on the usb sticks, cos i run 8 & 16 gig sticks, when i scanned the one it found a few missing whatevers, it fixed the problem and then it worked, BUTTTTT i found it to happen more and more often where the track could be playing and suddenly stop dead...... it might be the usb port itself thats coming loose from constant use, i gig 5 times a week 8hrs min and i constantly put in and remove usb sticks, after a while the rubber cover pushes up against the stick and then it doesn't sit properly in the usb input,, which then makes the music just suddenly stop, or it doesn't read your usb sticks or hard drive  saying unsupported device...... once again i stick to the fact that pioneer xdj r1 has some major design faults, pioneer will never admit to it but its true...

Cotesy,

Just a thought,  your not creating your library on Rekordbox using the XDJ -AERO setting in preferences, and not the XDJ-R1 by any chance??

@B-Red > It could be your drive was removed without properly stopping / ejecting it first, thus damaged the data. Please try using a data checking tool (such as chkdsk), then double-format the drive and re-export your library.

@Cotesy > As @Adrian points out, it could be that you didn't create the right kind of database in rekordbox.

i dont know if it may helps but somehow i had almost same problem on nexus cdj2000. it said empty disc on my usb stick and yet when i opened it on the desktop of the club for the lights/lazers etc...  it had everything inside.

i copied everything from the usb(in ur occasion ur external hdd) and put it somewhere safe. then did a format on the usb and then paste them back from where i saved them the first time.

usb was working fine this time on cdjnexus2000.

my guess is that sometimes when u update FW or whatever to pioneer products u need to somehow reboot ur stuff as well. hope it works for u
