[SOLVED] XDJ Aero vs R1

Hi All,

I am thinking of purchasing one of the XDJ range. I have been looking at both the Aero and the R1 with some interest. I have however read an awful lot about problems, teething or otherwise, with the R1 and whilst I want to get the most recent kit on the market, I am hesitant about spending a lot of money on something that may be problematic. Does anyone know if the issues with the R1 have been resolved now? I will primarily be using the kit for home use but expect to use it for gigs on occasion. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!

Hi James,

I have both units, and have used them for a while,

If your not a professional Dj, with a huge collection of CD's , then the XDJ Aero is for you,

It has much better stability, much more connectivity, Fully Supports Virtual Dj Pro, and if you have a laptop or macbook, you can drag and drop songs from your Rekordbox Collection to the Aero, it also supports most Tablets with Android, and the IPad/Ipod as well,

The XDJ R-1 has a more professional feel to it, so if you were an established Dj , the XDJ R1 would probably be your choice, as it has more effects and sounds for the more club orientated person,

if you are just wanting to practise in your bedroom, or do the occasional gig, you would be hard pressed to beat the Aero,

If you can, go and try both to see what you think.

The advantages to the XDJ R1 are it has 4 colour effects and the Aero has just the filter. It has 3 Hot Cues and 4-beat sampler. It lets you use CD's aswell as USB files. It also lets you see an LED Decibel bar for each channel and the master at the same time, the Aero only let's you see one or the other.

The Aero's advantages is it's lighter and thinner and allows you to use files on your tablet/phone wirelessly.

I prefer the R1 simply for the additional features it has. I haven't come across any bugs using the R1 using 1.09.

@James > While there were some bugs in the initial launch of the R1, these have, for the most part, been ironed out. Please remember that these are support forums so you are likely to see a number of reported problems, which isn't reflective of the entire user base using the equipment without any issues. Good luck with your decision ( I really like them both but, for my purposes as a mobile DJ, the R1 and remotebox edges ahead).
