Not sure what the issue might be, passing this to engineering.
Hello,
My XDJ-AERO deck has become unusable with Apple mobile products ever since the latest rekordbox update with iOS 8.2. Specifically:
Every time I'm trying to connect to XDJ-AERO with iPhone 6 in either wi-fi mode (Access AP or network) the app crashes into desktop
Same problem with iPad Air 2 running iOS 8.2. The app crashes into desktop without connecting to the unit.
I was able to connect to XDJ-AERO with an iPhone 4S running latest iOS 7 (not iOS 8)
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim

Much appreciated. I also want to mention that rekordbox app (for iOS) was running and loading songs just fine before the update that made it compatible with XDJ-RX and the introduction of continuous play option. After the update it just stopped connecting to XDJ-AERO all together.
@Timur > The engineers suggest that it might be due to WiFi congestion - could you try assigning a different channel to the AERO's WiFi?
Press and hold the INFO (UTILITY) button until the settings appear. Use the encoder knob to find WLAN SETTINGS and press the encoder. Next, find OTHER on the menu and press the encoder again. Finally, locate CHANNEL NO. and press the encoder again. If you are currently on CH 1, try using CH 6 or CH 11. Do not bother trying any other channels as they overlap with each-other; 1, 6 and 11 are the only "clear" channels. You may currently be interfering with another wireless AP, so trying a different channel may help. Another setting you can check is that the CHANNEL WIDTH is set to 20MHz instead of 40MHz.
One last thing to try is on your iOS device, press the home button twice to reveal the app switcher, find the rekordbox app and swipe it up to terminate that app from the background. You may also try rebooting the device after you have terminated the app before connecting to the AERO WiFi and trying again.
Last question - which firmware version are you running on the AERO?
Thank you for the info Pulse. I will try the workaround suggested in the first paragraph when I get home from work and message back with results.
I have tried terminating the app completely and restarting the iOS device with no luck. What i've noticed though is when trying to connect to AERO via rekordbox app on iOS 7 device it clearly shows a status message "Connecting to XDJ-AERO," but when trying to connect to AERO with iOS 8 device it shows "Connecting to XDJ." (yes, with dot, but without AERO in the name) and then it throws me back to iOS main window (with app still running in the background). Trying to reconnect yields the same results. Trying to terminate the app and relaunching it yields the same results.
The AERO is running the latest firmware, i.e. v3.00.
One other thing you could try is to rename the WiFi AP on the AERO (also done through the WLAN settings), you could test it first with the security disabled to ensure it is connecting, then add the WPA security after.
Pulse, I've tried using CH1, CH6, and CH11 with no luck. Rekordbox app still crashing to main window (the attached picture shows the last screen I see before the app crash)
Tried changing the channel width settings with no result either.
Closing/re-installing the app and restarting the device didn't help.
I've renamed WIFI AP to XDJAERO without any dashes with security disabled without any luck. The app still crashes.
Hey! A fellow Rogers user. ;)
Engineers have two questions for you:
Are you still able to connect your Aero unit with an iPhone 4S running iOS 7?
In order to avoid the influence of your mobile phone carrier, please see how it works when changing to Flight mode with only WiFi enabled.
Yes, i was able to connect to AERO with my friend's iPhone 4S running iOS 7 (no flight mode enabled) last weekend without any issues (not sure if he had updated to the latest Rekordbox app though). I will try connecting to AERO with my backup iPhone 4 (without SIM card) running iOS 7 with and without flight mode enabled when I get home from work. I will also be trying to connect to the unit with my work iPhone 5S running iOS 8. Will report back as soon as i'm done.
I tried connecting to AERO with iPad Air 2 that has no cellular reception (Wi-Fi only) with the same crashing result. The iPad is running the latest version of iOS and Rekordbox app.
Answering your questions: I was able to connect to AERO with iPhone 4 running iOS 7.1.2 with airplane mode enabled.
I was also able to connect to AERO with iPhone 5S running iOS 8.2. No airplane mode. Both devices were connected to home Wi-Fi network.
I finally was able to connect iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6 to AERO by completely deteting the app and my song library that was analyzed by rekordbox on the devices. After i launched the app I was able to connect to AERO via access point and home network.
This brings me to another lengthy problem I've been having all this time before the crash. Not sure if I should create a separate thread for it but here it goes:
Ever since i updated to latest iOS I'm not able to load songs from my phone to the deck as fast as it used to be. It now takes about a minute to load a song. It used to take just a couple of seconds over wi-fi. Has this been reported before? The only workaround that I found is connecting the USB to the deck, launching rekordbox on an iPhone and using it to browse/search my USB contents.
Thank you Pulse for the help with the previous issue. It seemed that the deck didn't like my rekordbox library for some reason.
Glad to hear that you were able to get it working, sorry that it was due to a problematic database.
One thing you might try is to connect the iOS device directly to the player via USB rather than WiFi to see if the load speed improves.
Really? I didn't know you could connect the iOS device to AERO via USB and use rekordbox that way. Thanks for the tip! I'll try that out.
Sorry, fingers working faster than brain - I was thinking of the CDJs; the AERO works only over WiFi with iOS devices.
Yeah, i've tried different things, but USB connection doesn't seem to work.
Anyways, any other suggestions on how to fix the issue with delayed loading of songs over wifi?. It's definitely taking longer than it used to be. And by longer I mean at least 30 seconds to load a 3-4 minute song. Used to be 1-2 seconds before the iOS update to 8.0 and above. Anybody in the office has the iPhone 6 they can test with? They might encounter the same issue.
If I use a USB stick with AERO and the phone to browse its contents it works just fine - songs are loaded onto the deck almost instantaneously.
If I use JUST the phone, it takes forever, i.e. when I pick a song from rekordbox on my phone and tap on either deck, the lights on the unit are flashing which obviously indicate that the song is being loaded. The flashing continues for some time and that side of the deck and my phone become unusable until the song is loaded.
I find it very inconvenient because I have A LOT of songs on my phone that I spent hours analyzing in rekordbox when commuting to work and would like to play it on my AERO whenever possible without going through the hassle of transfering the songs to rekordbox on PC, then transferring to USB, etc. Kind of defeats the purpose of the wireless DJ system.
Hopefully this is something the engineers can address, they're currently running tests. Thanks for your patience!
Happy news - the engineers report when Pioneer DJ gear (i.e. CDJ-2000NXS, CDJ-900NXS, XDJ-1000, XDJ-AERO, XDJ-RX) are connected to an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch via Wi-Fi running iOS 8.2, you may observe some issues such as audio skip, emergency loop and time lag to start playback. Pioneer DJ has identified that the above issues did not occur on iOS 8.3 and recommends updating to resolve any issues that may be found using iOS 8.2 with the aforementioned equipment.
After updating my Apple devices to iOS 8.3 I definitely saw an improvement in song loading times. Not as fast as using the phone to load songs from the connected USB stick,, but that's ok. Good enough. Thank you!
Well that's good news, not only is it not crashing, it's faster! :)
I'll mark this thread as solved; if you require assistance with this issue again, please open a new topic and link back to this topic, and we'll be happy to help you.
