[OPEN] XDJ RX - LINK mode "Now Loading"

Just upgraded to FW 1.5 and still have this issue. There is just a simple switch (no management) between my Mac and the XDJ-RX.

With FW the behaviour is slightly different from 1.0. Now it initially loads the track but when play button pushed the "NOW LOADING..." appears and it never completes. So I think there still is some fixing to do?

What additional information do you need to troubleshoot?

nvm i fixed it for me. some of the firewall rules were deactivated after the rekordbox update (for whatever reason). i reactivated them and now it works

The firewall rules will change with EVERY update; you need to either re-allow them when the program changes versions or disable your firewall.

It is Mac OS X, I have not installed a firewall. Is there any specific setting in Mac OS I should be doing?

Mac OS by default has a firewall enabled. This video is a bit outdated but may provide the necessary info to test:

The firewall was disabled already so that wasn't the issue. (FW=1.5 recordbox 3.2.1 on Mac)

I couple of tests I did to narrow down the issue:

  • A direct connection (without a switch) works

  • Connection via Sitecom LN-117 gigabit 8 port switch (part of a bit larger home network) fails

I am planning putting wireshark to work to see why or where the network traffic stop. In the meantime if someone has an idea what to check let me know.

No this is a "dumb" switch. nothing to configure.

You may want to check the cables and connections. Have you also disabled your wireless?

Requesting a follow-up on the above -- are you still having issues?

Also, I created a new firewall video:

Hi Pulse, So I'm experiencing exactly the same issues with a wireless router and rekordbox. (A lot...) -win 8.1- firewall disabled.
The hole denk freeezes and I' unaniem to load any track.
Only way to "solve" this is do a hard reset (power off- power on)
I don't know if I should post a new thread and provide you with more details or not?

Please inform on how to help.

@BillyV > Can you try connecting the RX directly to the ethernet connection of your computer and ensure the wifi is disabled?

Hi Pulse, So the reason why there is a wifi router installer is because we are a duo and 2 rekordbox pc's are connected at all time.
I also did encounter this issue with my pc directly connected to the RX.
because the issue is intermittend, it is hard to reproduce.
If you need any more help/info please inform me.

@BillyV > I understand, but for the purpose of troubleshooting the connection and eliminating possible sources of conflict, I just wanted to know if it was able to connect directly.

Can you please try troubleshooting with the fixes in this article and let me know if anything there helps. If not, copy/paste the questions from the bottom with your answers so we can dig to the bottom of the connection issue.

Dear Pulse,

Sorry for the late reply but I was out of the country for work.
So to recap, the problem we encounter is intermittend and is not always there and not related to specific tracks. I will really try to help as much as possible.
We need some sollution to this problem, a hard reset during a gig is really a pain in the...

To respond to the list: (most of the answers are true for both computers (if not it is indicated)

0) Have you read the "READ ME FIRST" thread in its entirety AND TRIED THE SOLUTIONS THERE before posting:
Yes, I swear it!
1) Operating System:
Win 8.1
2) OS Type:
64bit
3) rekordbox version:
3.3.0
4) Using LINK:
Yes
4b) LINK Connection method:
XDJ with DLINK DAP-1522 wireless bridge.
4c) Using with CDJs:
No; XDJ-RX firmware 1.6
5) Source
Computer his HD and external HD. (USB3.0)
5b) Connection type:
Network cable trough Dlink
5c) Does the device have multiple partitions:
PC does have mutiple partitions
5d) If it's a flash drive, is it a U3 device: No / Yes / Unsure
5e) With what utility did you format the device: OS X, Windows, HP USB Formatting Utility, Other

6) NA

7) Have you scanned your files for errors:
Yes using mp3val hat is recomended in a Pioneer Dj forum post.
7b) Have you scanned your drive for errors:
Yes, frequently for my PC; my partners PC not.
8) Is rekordbox crashing at all:
No
8a) If crashing, is it resulting in: an error message OR a crash log OR both (DO NOT POST YOUR CRASH LOG UNLESS REQUESTED!)
8b) If not crashing, are there any error messages:
No -Just 'now loading' on XDJ-RX screen
9) Are you able to repeat / reproduce the problem:
As it is random and intermittend I can't reproduce it on the spot. But it is reoccuring.
9a) If yes, can you do it consistently:
No
10) Does the problem occur with one specific song:
No
10a) If yes, please post a link to it:
11) Any other notes regarding your setup only:
One PC is connected trough WIFI - other using ethernet cable (WIFI disabled)
12) Provide as much detail of the issue here:
During playing, when loading a song in the other deck we found from time to time that the XDJ-RX is displaying 'now loading' and it never stops.
From that point the XDJ-RX isn't responding (can't load other track, not from rekordbox, not from an USB that you plug in at that time)
When pressing the rekordboc button on the RX the 2 rekordbox pc's disapeared. But the link icon is still visible in rekordbox on both PC's. Also the other song is still playing.
Both PC's (doens't matter who caused the 'now loading') can't load a track.
Also when trying on the current playing deck, it goes into the now loading status.
Closing Rekordbox doens't resolve. Reconnecting (Network adapter reset) doens't resolve. Restarting PC doesn't resolve.
Hard reset -power cycle- of the RX does resolve the issue.

I hope this can help you (and me) to enhance the performance of the RX, since I troughly find it a great unit.

Thanks for the support.
BR,
B

@Billy > We've asked the engineers to provide the unit with the ability to "back out" of such a situation so a hard reset is not required and you could continue to perform in the event of an error, so hopefully we'll see that included in a future update.

As for the link issues, you mention that you're using two computers, one PC and one Mac. I understand you're sharing the unit between two DJs, thus two computers, but I'd like to try and troubleshoot with just a single computer connected directly via ethernet to see just where the error is occurring.

First try the Mac directly, and if no errors, try the PC directly. If no errors, please try the Mac again but wired via the router. Repeat with the PC. Next repeat the process again for each computer but wirelessly via the router. If all goes well to this point, I'd like you to try using both computers simultaneously (only one can connect via ethernet, the other must be wireless), then if no problems, switch which is connected by ethernet. You can also test two via wireless if you'd like.

Please report back with your findings and we'll continue moving forward to resolve this issue for you!
