Oh and also my USB 2.0 transfer speeds are killing me at the moment
Hey Guys/Gals
Have any of you got yourselves the new MacBook or considering one?
I am thinking about getting myself the new 12" 1.2Ghz 512Gb MacBook?
I have watched literally every single YouTube review on it and know all the pro's and con's so no need to point all that out.
My biggest reason I would go for the "underpowered" 2015 MacBook is because it is performance wise better in nearly every aspect comparred to my 2010 MacBook Pro (2.66Ghz i7, SSD, 8Gb RAM...) via geekbench ratings and I have never had any problems or felt my current MacBook lagging ever.
I always off Rekordbox flash drives and sometimes do weddings with my DDJ-S1. I went to my local Apple iStore yesterday and loaded Rekordbox and Serato and everything on it to see how it would look and I have no problem with the screen size and the Retina display is simply amazing.

No doubt -- even I used a FW800 drive because USB2.0 was painful. It was no USB3, but it certainly was faster!
The MacBook Air's have been pretty decent, and the nice thing there is you can get a 13" vs. the MacBook's 12" display, the Air is more powerful, lasts longer, and has conventional USB ports without requiring that USB-C adaptor. The non-retina display would be the only downside to the Air, if that's a concern to you, because you also save $400-500 by going Air over the Macbook.

Hi Pulse,
Thanks for the reply and moving the thread to the Lounge.
Yeah the Retina screen is a big concern for me... I might wait till Sep to see if Apple wil maybe release a Retina MacBook Air... But I doubt it as it will then kill sales of the 12" Retina MacBook...
Maybe I should wait and see if the second generation MacBook's will have 2 USB-C ports maybe, back when the Air was released it also initially only had one USB port then they added another later on
I don't know, considering the USB-C port will be used for charging, I don't see them adding a second one (unless only one of them accepts an incoming charge?)
The problem is waiting will always lead to more waiting - you should just buy the things you need when you need them! ;)
Yes I agree... I might just end up getting myself one then. Will report back :)
Morning Pulse. I will be picking up my MacBook 12" later today... 😁
Will report back on how it works etc
Cool - let us know how it is!
Hi all,
Okay a week since I replaced my 2010 15" MBP with the new 12" MB and I have not regretted doing so for one second!
Rekordbox works like a dream and the exporting speeds are just phenomenal.
I must add my old laptop had USB 2.
The single USB-C port is not a problem as everyone said it would be. Just still have to get myself a adaptor that has Ethernet + a charging port so that I can use it via Pro Link as well.
I do suspect a single USB-C to Ethernet would work fine because this thing's battery lasts 8hrs + when used quite a bit and that is much longer then my sets I have to play.
The reason I want to use it via Pro Link when I play is for a bit bigger screen to browse through my playlists then my CDJ2K NXS's screens and this is perfect as the 15" MBP now feels huge compared to the 12" MB, and this can fit in cramped DJ booths more easily.
Anyone wanting to purchase one and has any questions feel free to ask
accroding to the rumer, that's liks great...
