Can you guys give me a bit more information as to how/when it happens? Is there any rhyme or reason or is it random? Any consistency between occurrences at all?

...and Pioneer would like to know more information about your setup and how/when it happens.

- Which operating system?
- Which version of Serato?
- Which firmware on the XDJ?
- Are you using a USB hub?
- What function are you in when the player jumps back to the start / first cue? (In a loop, straight playback)
- Are you doing anything on that deck when that happens? (Pressing a button, using the trouchscreen, browsing tracks, scratching)
- Are you doing anything on the OTHER deck when that happens?

Information helps solve problems! Thanks guys.

I had the same bug! Sometimes the song starts again from first cue point. Once this happened I was 2 meters away from MacBook and XDJ-1000. So I touched nothing!

Serato DJ v1.9.0 / but also with 1.8.x

DJM-S9 firmware 1.06

2x XDJ-1000 @ active USB hubs
firmware v1.05
midi channel player 1 = 10
midi channel player 2 = 11

MacBook Pro 15 late 2013 / i7 / 16 GB ram / OS X 10.10.5

I opened a ticket at Serato support: 178261

Is it possible to downgrade to firmware 1.04???

Actually it's not possible to use this setup anyway (XDJ-1000/DJM-S9) until it's fixed. All time this happens the crowed starring at me like a "newbie dj" pressing wrong buttons.

But very hard to reproduce this issue. Sometime the whole evening without the bug. Other days it happened 2-4 times per evening.

Please try the following:

Disconnect your XDJs and go into Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. Go to Window > Show MIDI Studio (if not already visible).

Click the dropdown at the top of the window (to the left of Add device) and select New Configuration. Give it the name XDJ and click OK. Next, connect your XDJs and ensure they both appear in the window.

Quit the Audio MIDI Setup application and launch your DJ software.

So if have done this steps. Now it standard and XDJ config are the same when I switch in AMS between them. Is this correct?

Standard configuration devices:

  • Bluetooth
  • IAC Driver
  • Network
  • Pioneer DJ DJM-S9
  • Pioneer XDJ-1000
  • Pioneer XDJ-1000

XDJ configuration devices:

  • Bluetooth
  • IAC Driver
  • Network
  • Pioneer DJ DJM-S9
  • Pioneer XDJ-1000
  • Pioneer XDJ-1000

I have 900nxs
This is a quote from another post here: "XDJ-RX Slip Mode bug
Sometimes when I am in Slip Mode and finished an action, the track does not begin to play at the point as it should. It starts anywhere in the track. But this bug is not always. It appears only rarely.
Is that a mistake of myself or is that a failure of the device?
(I have already installed the firmware update 2.10)"

So Pioneer what's up? Are you investigating this bug?

Is it possible to downgrade firmware?

@djtomminger > You didn't say if it worked or not, just that you had done it.

Yes, this bug appears only very rarely and without pressing any button or doing using at Serato DJ.
The first gig I used XDJ-1000 the bug happened three times. So I start a support request at serato. They said I should try an active USB hub. Next gig, on Friday, I had no problems at all. Everything worked fine as it should. At Saturday it happens two times. :-(

I decided that I can't use this setup anymore at live gigs because everyone thinks you are a beginner who presses wrong buttons. This was so awkward!!! So this weekend I don't used my XDJ-1000! I used my DDJ-SZ and my DJM-S9 with timecode vinyl.

I will try it this week and hope that I can reproduce it.

I promised to check your suggestion and so I've done this:

Start Serato DJ 1.9.1 and load a song. Activate a loop in a silent area at the end of the song and press play. This was done with booth XDJs. Installed a small speaker that I can hear when jumped to the first cue point.
I've run this test about 2h and nothing happened! So I started to DJ with my setup. After a while (30 mins or so) the bug showed again. If I rotate the jog wheel forward and the playhead stopped, it jumped back to front (first cue point). This happened 3 or 4 times and never showed again.
I tried it along two more hours but the bug not happened again.

So your fix won't stop our issue! Any other suggestion? Possible to downgrade firmware?

Is anyone here having this problem NOT using a DJM-S9?

I've been replicating the conditions using @djtomminger's suggestion of having the players run in a loop at the end of the track, and I have managed to have the audio jump back to the first hot cue, but what I did was run a MIDI monitor, and it captured some traffic from the DJM-S9, not the XDJs. What's unusual is that the signal sent has nothing to do with the hotcues, so I'm trying to have it repeat the glitch to see if the data matches so we can determine which signal is being sent, and from where.

Thanks for your patience while we dig into this one.

Holly shit - finally someone has the issue too and worked at Pioneer or Serato :-)

So I will update Serato about your tests.

Please update me if you have any news concerning this issue. BIG THANKS!

@Swid > I don't have a 900NXS, but I do have several other mixers here, I'm going to try and replicate the issue with the S9 and then see if it happens with other mixers as well. I'll keep you posted.

I trying to understand why the mixer is so important when it's clearly the XDJ-1000 problem or a bug working with serato...

Okay, so after chatting with the product teams here, it looks like the MIDI signal I had captured was the BPM signal being sent from the mixer, likely as a result of the track having jumped to the hot cue position and the mixer then picking up the audio and reading the BPM. It is strange that there was no signal sent from the XDJ, so the mystery continues.

Okay that sounds really strange and this will explain that @Swid has no DJM-S9 and still had this issue too. @Pulse: This is what if've meant with "Yes, this bug appears only very rarely..." and without the possible to reproduce it easily.

  • Why the play head is jumping to the first cue point and no midi signal is sent to software? How is this possible? Do you have any ideas?
  • If no signal was sent to software, maybe is this a internal software (SDJ) bug? Possible? But why this is only occur with XDJ-1000...?
  • @Pulse: Do you hear from other users reported this bug who uses other CDJ or XDJ products?

I think we can eliminate the operating system because everyone has a different one (Windows / Mac with different versions).
