No sound output on decks 3/4 on DDJ-SR

Just getting started with DDJ-SR and Serato (was an "analog" DJ for many years...finally making switch from pure vinyl).

Decks 1/2 are producing sound output to my studio monitors just fine (I have them plugged in from the Master OUT 1), but when I try to play tracks from decks 3/4 there is no sound output.

Serato recognizes the tracks, as does the master sound meter on the DDJ-SR. I am selecting the deck 3/4 deck button to the left of the platter.

Am I missing something? Thanks for the help!

That's called "software takeover" - you need to move the physical control to the position of the virtual control, whether it's a knob or fader, otherwise the audio would jump to wherever the controls are at when you change between decks.

because the SR has only a 2-channel mixer built in, the respective controls will save their values when switching between decks, so that the adjustments you make will not affect the other deck. (ie, decks 1 and 3 use the same EQ and fader)

So when you switch to deck 3 or 4 for the first time in a set, the values which those controls affect are still set to 0. in the case of the eq knobs, let's say you have the highs cranked all the way up on deck one, when you switch to deck 3, the knob doesn't physically change position, but because you used it on deck one, the value for the highs on deck 3 is still at 0 (middle position) to fix this, you simply need to reset the knob to 0 by twisting it back to the middle position. Then deck 3 will respond to the eq high knob.

in the case of the fader, when you switch to deck 3, everything is still at 0, including the fader. you need to reset the fader slider so the deck will repond to your input.

TL;DR: channel 3 thinks your fader is all the way down, even though it's resting where you had it for channel 1.  fader slider is up, but deck 3 still thinks its all the way down. slide the fader to the bottom after switching to deck 3, then slide it up, you'll hear it.

I had the same issue with my DDJ-REV1 and IT WAS DRIVING ME NUTS!  I'd given up on getting audio from Decks 3/4...  and if I'm being 100000% honest, I read this answer about a month ago and thought it sounded ridiculous.  I didn't even f'ing try it.

That is a month of production I will never get back.  I am an absolute donkey.  Because I finally tried this out of absolute desperation... After replacing all of my audio drivers, swapping cables... screwing with audio settings...

Just flicking the fader/volume gave me audio.  My heart literally leapt.

Thank you.
