I just bought a second hand RMX 1000 to have more effects while djing. I have a xone 92 mixer... What is the best way to connect these two? And which cables? Jack balanced, unbalanced, mono, stereo, tr, trs....I never understood all this to be honest.

it's not as smooth as you would like it no be... the RMX-1000 work better in a wet/dry efx send, the Xone92 is an aux send... you connect the RMX1000 output into an aux input.. and connect the RMX1000 input into an aux output.
you need to make sure the aux channel is on and turned up, then turn the aux send knob on the top of the mixer to send some of the signal to the RMX
OLAH Michael. Viewing the Xone92 imputs/outputs, I think it'll works the following configuration too:
Xone 92 Mix 2 Output to RMX-1000 Imput and RMX-1000 Output to Return 1 or 2 or Aux 1 or 2

Thanks for the info guys but I can't seem to get it working. What to do on the mixer itself? Which buttons, knobs do I have to push on the mixer for this?

Allright thank you. I'm getting signal in the rmx but nothing happens when I play with the effects. Send level is turned up though...

The problem with all these solutions is that they are not viable in a live situation. Since the RMX 1000 is designed for not mixing the dry and wet signal the only workable solution, that I have found, is to hook it up on the main master out. And what club let's you shut down the music for a while when you connect the unbalanced RMX1000?
You can use the AUX (pre fader) for each channel, route them into the RMX1000 and then into RETURN (or another channel). To add effects, lower the fader and turn up the aux knob for desired channel. Sounds easy but try it live, keeping volume control is extremely difficult. You have to be very fast to avoid flanger and distortion effects. The workflow with constantly changing AUX and level for each channel while mixing is, at least not for me, viable. You can work with the RMX1000 always on but then you end up with the volume control only on the AUX knobs and that's not ideal, they were not designed to be used like this and volume control turns out very tricky.
Hooking up the MIX 2 to the RMX 1000 and then to RETURN is in theory a much better solution but will not work since the faders have to be up to generate a signal. When you re-introduce it through the RETURN it will be mixed with the original signal and generate a flangy distorted output.
Please let me know if I missed something. I really like the RMX 1000 but since a lot of clubs use A&H mixers I'm not encouraged to fully incorporate the device in my setup.

Xone:92 implements traditional (AUX) SEND/RETURN bus for effects;
Use 1/4" JACK to JACK cables connected from XONE:92 AUX1 (or AUX2) L&R outputs to the RMX1000 L&R INPUTs
Use 1/4" JACK to JACK cables connected from the RMX1000 L&R OUTPUTs to XONE:92 RETURN1 (or RETURN2) L&R inputs.
Set CH1 (or CH2) MIC/RTN input source - on the top panel - to LINE and the channel's ON/OFF/DUCK switch ON.
Set the CONNECTION switch on back of the RMX1000 for SEND/RETURN (-10dB).
Use the 92's mix channel AUX (1,or 2) controls to route channel audio to the RMX unit (check/adjust the input and output level controls on the RMX to ensure signal peaks don't CLIP in the meters).
The 'wet' output from the RMX1000 is returned to the 92 via the (CH1 or 2) RTN LINE channel;
- CUE this channel to check/adjust the incoming signal level from the RMX in the 92 meters and ensure the maximum level output from the FX unit does not clip the channel.
- use the corresponding 92 CH1/2 fader to balance the level of this, 'wet', FX return input with the 'dry' channel signal and/or other tracks/audio in the main LR mix.
