XDJ-RX & PLX-1000

I had my PLX-1000 connected to my RX with phono leads for about a week and then it suddenly stopped working, it sounds as if the cables are broken but ive tried new ones, been told it needs to be grounded but not sure if i can do that on my RX? Any tips on whats up?

There is a grounding point on the rear panel in the center.  Be sure the input switch is on PHONO.
