DJM-TOUR1 track loading via Rekordbox

Hello,

I know that I can browse/load tracks into the CDJ's on the screen of my DJM-TOUR1 from the attached USB sticks connected to the CDJ's.

But will it also be possible in the next TOUR1 firmware to browse/load tracks from a MacBook (attached via ethernet to the TOUR1) that runs Rekordbox?

Thank you.
Greetings, Kris

Sorry for the delayed response.  Yes, the Pro DJ Link feature works on the Tour1 system just as it does on the NXS2 system.

Hi Mark.
No you cannot load tracks from the DJM-TOUR1 mixer's touchscreen from music stored on a notebook (connected via ProDJ link). You can ONLY load tracks from the touchscreen into the CDJ's with music stored on a USB stick that is located in (one of the) CDJ's attached via ProDJ link to the mixer. Will that be possible in future firmware of the DJM-TOUR1?

Many thanks, Kris

My apologies, I seem to have misunderstood the question.  Let me try to clarify.

You have a notebook running rekordbox (export mode) connected to the CDJ-TOUR1 via ethernet cable and you want to load songs to the CDJ's from the DJM screen.  Is this correct?

No problem Mark!

Yes indeed. The MacBook runs Rekordbox 2.4.2 in export mode. I have all my music in iTunes and analyzed in Rekordbox. I also make USB sticks that I can use directly in the CDJ's but I have more than 36.000 tracks so it's almost impossible to put all those on a USB drive :-)

Therefore I also connect the MacBook to the DJM-TOUR1 mixer via Pro DJ Link together with the CDJ's. I normally select and drag the track into the correct player in Rekordbox.

Via the touchscreen on the DJM-TOUR1 you can select tracks stored on a USB stick connected to the CDJ's, but not from the connected MacBook that is also connected via Pro DJ Link.

I would presume (and hoped) that this would also be possible. And I guess it can be done if this is programmed in the DJM-TOUR1's firmware.

Thank you.
Greetings, Kris

The MacBook should be connected to one of the CDJ's via USB cable and not to the DJM via ethernet.  I've made a quick illustration:

Hello Mark,

I tried this setup. The Pro DJ link is up in Rekordbox, I can see the tracks from my notebook on the CDJ-2000NXS2 I can load tracks using the rotary encoder.

On the DJM-TOUR1 I can't see any device. Only when I pop in a USB stick in one of the CDJ-2000NXS2's.

Here without USB sticks, only the MacBook (35.967 tracks) connected via USB to the CDJ:

Here with a USB stick (4.232 tracks) in the CDJ:

So basically it does not have any impact if I connect the MacBook to the DJM-TOUR1 via ethernet (Pro DJ link) or if I connect the MacBook to a CDJ-2000NXS2 via USB (Pro DJ link).

PS: I use firmware v2.00 on the DJM and v1.51 on the CDJ's -> latest available versions on your website.

Many thanks for a your help!

I've passed this along to our product planning team as they're the only ones who can test this.  Their work load is pretty intense.  Sorry for the delay.  I'll post a response as soon as I receive one.  Thank you for your patience.

Hello Mark,

Any news from the Product Planning team? Were they able to replicate the issue? It would be great if this would work! :-)

Thank you.

Sorry for the delay.  The product team is aware that this is not possible.  They did not tell me whether or not it was done intentionally or if there will be a future update to allow this functionality.

Hello

Hope to get a meaningful answer soon.

Face the same problem on a Windows PC (all running latest firmware/software).

Of course the large touchscreen should be used for browsing and selecting tracks using the computer connected on the DJ Link as the source.

Thanks!

Hi Pioneer,

I started this topic on October 30 in 2016. Last reply from you was on December 26 in 2016. We are now almost October 2019!.. And we still did not get any meaningful answer yet. It's a product that we bought for more than €5.000 at the time. I suspect a little more effort from your side on such an item...

Can you PLEASE ask the product team again when this update will be available? It's quite stupid that it does not work. Rekordbox is your own native software specifically designed to work with these kind of products. And a simple browsing option in export mode is still not possible? After 3 years of asking?

Do you agree and understand that we feel a bit ignored..?

Thank you.

You can set hotkeys in recordbox and load tracks on the TOUR1s while using Link Mode.  Granted, I'll strongly agree that the functionality should be visible via the TOUR1 screens since it exists in the CDJs natively.  I wouldn't expect less functionality in a system like this.

Additionally, you can still select the Rekordbox button on the smaller display and load tracks through there, but it's disappointing to not see it work on the screens.

June 2022 checking in, just purchased this wildly expensive unit, and am a bit shocked to be reading this thread.  Was this issue resolved?  I am connecting via USB with Rekordbox 6.6.3, and I am having the same issues.

Sorry, while possible to connect the TOUR1 units to rekordbox, their design was intended for stand-alone use as the primary function.
