It was a great concept but it seems to have fallen flat right out of the gate. With very little support from the industry, I don't expect rekordbox to integrate this kind of functionality anytime soon.
I would like to see the stems idea introduced to Rekordbox and Pioneer controller DJ RX. Is this something that might happen? It seems a very good idea and a great option for DJs. I think NI have been backward in promoting and managing this good idea and think that Pioneer should take this and make it work!!

Personally I really do not believe in a future for STEMS. The idea however is great. But the number of supported tracks is too limited. Also, older tracks will probably never be released in STEMS format (and that's a shame). Currently too few devices support them so I see no reason why I would buy a (few times) more expensive track right now (which is a new problem to the future again -- round circle). My opinion, however...
Pioneer, It's time to revisit this conversation. Virtual DJ 2021 as well as Algorithm DJay have both jumped on the Stems Train. Though you may have had the stance that STEMS was not going to last, the reality is that there are DJ's that want this feature. I personally love Rekordbox and have invested quite a bit of money in various Pioneer products over the last 3 decades. That being said Rekordbox is not the only system I use and as many DJ's will agree, we are always looking for innovation. Please revisit the idea.
Not exactly... they're using a music separation feature, not stems the way this was discussed 4 years ago, but thanks for your input.
Pioneer, It's time to revisit this conversation once again. Serato 3.0 has now jumped on the train as well with even better sounding "STEM". Love your products and software but it would be even nicer if STEMS were implemented into Rekordbox. Please revisit the idea.
Pioneer please revisit this. I picked up a controller from you just a day ago and I am in half a mind to exchange it so that I can use one that controls Serato specifically for this feature.
As i understand this should be a software update
MFG
Well the original response seems to have aged like milk with everyone going nuts for the new Serato stems feature. With a lot of die hard rekordbox users questioning moving to Serato (me included). It's time to have another look i think.
The original response was to Traktor's individual stem files (for remix decks), not realtime stem separation.
So realtime stem separation will be implemented into Rekordbox in the nearest future?
Now that alle other DJ software (and hardware) compenies offer realtime STEMS, what are Pioneer DJ going to do?
We're going to sit around and wait for the trend to wain, then jump onboard. lol
A hA hAA Ha I am dyiiiiing. . .
Wow. Then this is good bye Pioneer. Pretty smug in a competitive market.
Apparently "lol" only made it clear enough for Kajaanan to understand it was a joke.
We can't discuss any unreleased products or features, so why not have a little fun?
Not even planned features? I'd say, by having some kind of open roadmap it may also calm down waiting customers :)
We never announce anything on our roadmap - not since the SP16 update roadmap backfired when the team missed the expected deadline and wasn't able to have the features quoted.
*sigh* Pioneer, I've been thinking constantly about moving to Serato and a Serato based controller. I became a fan of your products, because you all "used to" be the innovators in our beloved DJ industry. Now, your customers are sitting here and watching Serato DJ's enjoy all the benefits that come with using STEMS in a live DJ performance. I currently own a Rekordbox DDJ 1000 controller and I love the device... please don't force me to move to Serato. You have to do something.
If you are thinking of moving to Serato then you clearly haven't embraced Rekordbox's superior music management system. Personally I believe Fake Stems to be a novelty. However under certain situations I can see it being useful. Example Radio edit not having a solid intro/outro, or similar wanting to dump out of track early during a chorus. However at its core Fake Stems is simply another tool but not "THE" tool or "game changer" as so many DJs have claimed online. Even the best Fake Stems sound hollow and over processed similar to 128 kbps MP3 encodings. Admittedly Serato's implementation with the echo out feature and solo modes are a cool implementation. VDJ also has an interesting implementation.
Will Rekordbox implement this? Yeah probably. Will it be a game changer to use no absolutely not. Will I use it? Maybe, but probably sparingly. Results are unpredictable to the laymen. Example Eurythmics Sweet Dreams original mix sounds pretty good with Serato Fake Stems when you isolate the vocal. I believe that is simply because Annie Lennox's vocal is very prominent, it rides above the mix, hence it's easy for the algorithm to scrape the vocal. Take the recent Elton John Britney Spears Hold Me Closer it sounds TERRIBLE because the vocals ride very low in the mix. IMO for the DJ that has a great ear this would be low in the list of tools to use but somewhat useful when properly implemented. I'd rather see Rekordbox evaluate the playing field and implement their own refined version, which WILL NOT be some stellar algorithm that miraculously make stems sound better, rather a unique or better implementation to Serato's version adding FX.
"If you are thinking of moving to Serato then you clearly haven't embraced Rekordbox's superior music management system".
This is very much why I'm still using rekordbox. I actually started with VirtualDj, and wasn't very happy with how it was built in contrast to my DDJ-400. I could probably make it work better - IF I keep paying more license fees. So when I switched to rekordbox, I was very pleased. The only thing I actually still miss from this change is the vocal isolation. From time to time, it's very nice to use. As of today, I have to extract vocals separately wit VDJ (which recently released also Stems 2.0, whatever that is) if I want to mix it in somewhere.
Lol so no STEMS because obviously nobody uses that feature? And there was me still trying to think of a use for the VERY useful reverse button🤣😂🤣
I was using Serato with Stems, is a new beatiful tool. Serato have the best quality in realtime process for this. But the problem here is that all dj software competitors have this feature and Rekordbox is now behind in this feature. This forum will not have a discussion about it because first you have to test it to talk about, and here the most user are using Rekordbox and don't have experience in stem in serato. DjPiooner you have to consider it!
