unable to connect DDJ-flx4 to pc

hi i recently purchased flx 4, i have connected to my laptop using a usb to usb - c the controller is powering up with all lights and the midi green led is flashing, i have tried with the other power socket connected and makes no difference, also my rekordbox is up to latest version, when i go into preferences and audio it is not listed in control device info. when i try to load new firmware i am notified that my flx 4 is not connected was looking forward to using these but not looking promising unless im missing something daft. also when i have tried to connect with bluetooth it is telling me i need to type a code into my flx 4 and enter which is impossible.
