Djm 900 nexus 2 recording issues

I have just bought a nexus 2 mixer. I have it linked up to 2 x cdj 2000 and a technics 1210. I have tried to link it up to my lap top to record from connection USb a on the top of mixer into the USb port on my lap top. I have read numerous posts on here, but just can't get my head around it. There are all the things I have done so far.
I'm running Windows 8 and have updated the drivers. I am using audacity as the recording program. When I hat record, it is saying that the audio source, bit rate may need to be changed. I've tried a few thing but nothing. I want to recorded from the 4 channels on my mixer. Have followed YouTube guides and suggestions on here. Can't get my head around if it's compatible or not? Any advice, screen shots or videos would be appreciated. Hope it makes sense. Thank you in advance. David

Audacity does not natively support ASIO device drivers - you can compile your own version to do that, but if you're here asking about how this all works, that may be a bit more complex a task than you're wanting to undertake.

See this guide; you could use VoiceMeeter Banana to record the mix, so you don't need to go past that point and use the OBS functions.

Or if you wanted to use rekordbox (even if you're not using rekordbox dj to perform), see this guide.

Not sure if this is an ASIO issue in the sense that the DJM is talkiing ASIO with the PC but audacity has no ASIO by default, but I think it can be added.

Please refer to the documentation of Pioneer and Audacity.

I have linked the djm 900 nexus 2 to recorded through record box. Just wondering if it is a high quality recording feature to use. What is the difference between record box and say audacity, or other recording programmes? I've had the 4 channels playing and it seems ok. Any other advice would be brilliant. Thanks again.

@David > There's little difference recording to one application vs another. One of the benefits of Audacity (depending on your configuration) would be the possibility of recording multiple channels simultaneously to tweak your mix after the fact.
