WEgo4 to connect to the NEW 2018 iPad pro with USB-C

Hello ,

I am currently using the DDJ wego4 with an older version of the Ipad. I have just now bought the new Ipad with the USB-C connector.

How can I connect this to the WEGO4 as the wire provided with the WEGO4 is the lightning connector. Is there any adaptor/connector that pioneer recommends.

Thanks

Aman

The WeGO4 has a standard USB-A port on the back of the unit; connect your USB-A-to-USB-C cable from that to the iPad.

Thanks for the prompt response. I made a mistake, I have a WeGO3 - sorry for the confusion. The WeGO3 has no USB-A port unfortunately. Any other solution?
Sorry for the confusion again.

Unfortunately no - and I don't believe there are any plans to provide a WeGO3-to-USB-C cable. You may be able to use something like this...

No; you still need to use that special iOS Device connector cable:

The other USB port won't communicate with your iPad.

Ok thanks. Has anyone confirmed whether the other adapter works?

No, but within reason, it should work - it's just converting the connector type, not the data flowing through it.

UPDATE-

I purchased and tested both the small lightning to USB-C dongle and also the USB-B to USB-C cable.

And the results are.......wait for it.....

The lightning to USB-C dongle did not work.

but.....

The USB-B to USB-C cable DID WORK!!

Pioneer-  I hope you guys add this bit of knowledge to your FAQ since it seems like no one tested it there.   Hope someone finds it helpful.

Cheers!!

I appreciate you testing that and I'll update my information to reflect that it does work that way. Thanks for your persistence!

@Lean78 > No, I'm not saying it's useless - just that the iPad Pro is not a supported device.

Ok, but you don’t saying why? iPad Pro have the same iOS like the other iPad/iPhone, if software it’s not the problem, the only reason of non functional it’s the hardware in the middle (wired connection “usb support”)

I think that pionner are also interested to know what is the issue, and give us a solution to your customers.

Please, Just only i try to have support, more specific, like “sorry”

You can try the other cable but we do not officially support it, no detailed explanation was provided by our engineers.

Hi,
I faced the same problem above, when I changend my iPadOS hardware (iPad Pro 2017 => iPad AIR M1 (2022)) with USB-C connector. I use Algoriddim DJay AI Pro / DJay Pro as dj app.

I tried to use an USB-A to USB-C cable instead uf the USB-Lightning cable. I managed it, that the WeGo 4 could connect sometimes and be recognized and then all worked fine. But many times the hardware was not even recognized and after some testing I couldn't be able to connect the devices anymore... I think this might have something to do that the identification/handshake as USB MASTER/SLAVE device through USB-C connection didn't happen correctly with the cable (not original from Apple).

After finding this thread were somebody managed it to use the USB-PC (USB-B 2 USB-C) cable I remembered that I have an USB-C docking station (for Lenovo Laptops), where most hardware was recognized from the iPad (HDMI, USB hub and other...) I gave it a Try and connected the WeGo 4 on the Lenovo docking station and... Voilà! Everything is working perfectly, even my iPad is now turbo-charging with 90W. It might not be a Pioneer supported solution, but this will keep my WeGo4 on the track with my new iPad Air M1.

It might not be an option for any user to just buy a Lenovo docking station, since they are expensive as hell. But I think that every other charging capable iOS/MacOS USB-C docking station, which are available at f.ex. Amazon for 40-50 EUR, might work, since they might help the iPad / USB-C connection to the WeGo4  is automaticly setup correctly in regard to USB MASTER/HOST.

Maybe this answer will help some WeGo users to use it with newer iPads.
