Latency issue with Android WeDJ App with DDJ 200

WeDj app for android now supports DDJ 200.
Unfortunatly, there's a serious latency issue.
Track starts nearly 1/2 beat late after i press play button.
I wonder how this happens when the app for ios just works fine.
Wish Pioneer notice and fix the issue as soon as possible...
It is quite frustrating. Is there any plan for Update??
Pls respond

Hi all,

Our engineers have investigated further and here's what they had to say about the issue...

If it is the SBC codec used in many Android devices, there will be a latency of about 220ms.

There is no problem with the aptX codec.

This latency also occurs when the Bluetooth device sends a command to stop playback.

So for users experiencing a delay, they're most likely using the SBC codec. Unfortunately, this codec issue is a problem with the device and is not something that can be resolved within the app.

Do you possibly have the sync engaged? If so, it will snap to the phrase / grid syncing.

I queue to the request by Kim. I'm having latency issue between Galaxy Tab A and DDJ-200, same half-beat.

Are you able to get a video of this happening? It would be easier to relay that to our engineers for examination.

Hello, has this issue been resolved? I am having the exact same problem as listed above on a Galaxy A5 running Android 8.0.0

Please try these -- from the product FAQ page:

The application on my smartphone doesn't work correctly or the sound delays. Can I connect this unit and my smartphone using a USB cable? I am using a smartphone app (such as WeDJ for iPhone), but I feel latency when I control the app using this unit.A2

Three main factors can cause this and there are three possible countermeasures.

■ When USB connection and Bluetooth connection is established at the same time
If your smartphone is connected via Bluetooth and your PC/Mac is connected to the unit using a USB cable at the same time, you may not be able to control the app correctly.
Quit all applications on the PC/Mac, disconnect the USB cable from the PC/Mac, and reconnect it.

■ When the connection method is the cause
If you connect your smartphone using a USB cable, it may work correctly.
After disconnecting the USB cable, connect via Bluetooth from the setting screen on the app.

■ When the system environment is the cause
The following measures may work.
・If devices generating electromagnetic waves in the 2.4 GHz band (such as a microwave oven, wireless LAN or another Bluetooth device) are located nearby, move them away from DDJ-200 or stop using them.
・ If your smartphone is far away, move it closer to DDJ-200.

*If powered speakers or headphones are connected via Bluetooth or have the surround feature, the sound will be delayed.

The issue is not controller related. Issue is between app Actions and audio. playback. If i sync visually with in app waveform beats its ok, if i follow the sound i lag. I have recorded a video here https://youtu.be/BBo1NMBELWk

@Pietro > Did you see the FAQ I just posted? I know your comment was right after mine, I just want to make sure.

Yes, again, its not a controller issue, as you can see from my video (im not using the controller there)

This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with a controller -- but even if you're using other BT audio devices.

Video is Tab A only, no other devices involved. Just playback with inner speaker. Same with my Galaxy 9.

It's not just the sound itself. For example, if I scretch, it will take until the command arrives when I stop doing that still happens. If I move pitch, it's the same. Have about 1 - 2 seconds delay

Thanks -- I've asked our engineers to look into this.

Yeah, if we sync with the app it works, its the playback which is not synced and with the system.

So I tested it with the iPhone. I do not have the problems. Everything is going as it should

Yeah, exactly as the thread opener said. Its Android playback lag.

Here's what the engineers replied:

Generally speaking, many of such latency issues may be solved by the measures below.

・Close all the other apps running background.
・Reboot the Android device.

On the WeDJ for Android page, it's noted that we do not officially support any versions or models at all:
https://www.pioneerdj.com/en-us/support/software-information/controller/ddj-200/#operating-system-information

We cannot say which Android phone or tablet models and its OS versions are officially supported because it is technically impossible for the engineers to test with all the Android models and version available in the world. If you can provide the details of your device (make / model / OS version), the engineers may have similar models already tested and could answer if they will work without any issues or not.

The app team is aware of the latency issue and are working to improve it - unfortunately we don't have a timeline available for its release.

@Pietro > Our engineers used an S9+ running Android OS9.0 and a Tab A (2016) with Android OS10.1, but don't have your exact models.

Hi,

To chime in for details sake - I am having the same problem with WeDJ on my DDJ200, a good 1/2 beat latency when hitting any buttons. Running on a Galaxy Note 9, Android 9.

Tried a combination of some to all of the below:

- Running the app unoptimized for battery (non-battery saving mode)

- Phone running in high performance mode

- Running the phone in flight mode (w/ BT on)

- Fiddling with Bluetooth protocols in Developer options etc.

I've got faith in you guys to get it sorted, I think WeDJ is the best of all the DJ apps on android (and I should know I bought the full versions of them all!).

Good luck & thanks in advance.
