If I recall, that's because they're brighter when you press and engage them.

PAD FX colours
So I have an XDJ-RX2 and have only just started to use the performance pads > pad fx mode, which is great can't believe I missed it until now.
My question is when I select pad fx1 the pads are very dim when compared to hot cue colours which are much brighter.
Does anyone know if it's possible to increase the brightness or is this by design ??
Any suggestions welcome.
