Replace one file format for another

Would like to be able to replace a shitload of mp3's for aiff's in the click of a button, like search & replace

Not recommended as even if you could, the analysis grid and waveform may not match exactly.

No, there is no built-in way to do this.

However I have seen discussion online of people altering things in the .XML file. But I can't remember if they were successful.

Here is the procedure, I demonstrate it for MacOS, but works the same on Windows:

Change audio type keep all cues, loops, grid and other DJ metadata.

Now keep in mind

  • the Aiff you used to replace the mp3 should be 100% identical from an audio data perspective
  • you may experience MP3 encoder shifts (cues, loops and grid shifting more info in this video)
  • And to state the obvious: there is no gain from converting an MP3 to Aiff
