DJM 700 panels not working.

I use it with two CDJ-900's, which work fine.

However, when I try to use the effects wheel the effects simply do not play. They appear on the screen above and the filter works fine but otherwise nothing. Also, when I push the filter channel switch onto a track which isn't the master, the entire audio cuts out.

Another issue, my master level switch seems to have absolutely no control/ effect on the mixer whatsoever- it could be all the way down or all the way up and i would still get music playing.

Am I missing something, is there something I haven't plugged in or checked or do i need to go elsewhere to fix the issue?
