[CLOSED] DJM-2000 and Windows 7 x64

Hello Pulse, I am using both the latest driver and the firmware v2.0 released on July 2011.

I remember that I had the mixer working with traktor Pro (4 channels out) and a DELL Laptop, but this was with the previous firmware version my mixer came with (v1.21) for sure.

I will have to do some more tests in order to isolate that this problam is not caused due to a bad (weak) USB signal from my DAW.

Just for the records the DAW I am having problems connecting the DJM-2000, is a custom built by me Dual Xeon i7 s1366 Workstation (ASUS Z8PE-D12X mainboard / 24GB Kingston DDR3 1333MHz ECC REG Triple channel / 2x Xeon E5506).

I remember having similar issues with an AMD Dual Opteron workstation I had in the past and a MOTU 828MK2 USB soundcard. After long tests and emails exchanged with MOTU support, it appeared that the problem had to do with a badly programmed driver for x64 that could not allow the card to run properly in any machine that had more than 4GBs of RAM.

Apart from my main DAW, I also have 3 notebooks sitting around (all with win7 x64 installed), so it will be easy to run some more tests there and I will let you know. If the mixer continues having these issues, then it is something wrong with the latest firmware and driver combination (as I remmber that the mixer worked fine in one of my machines, but with a previous version of firmware and drivers).

I will post the results asap (maybe today as well).

Almost a year since the latest driver for DJM-2000 release and there is still no update regarding Win7 x64.

So far there are 3 options thaw WE, DJM-2000 owners have to do:

1) Switch to a MAC.

2) Downgrade to Windows 7 32bit (or any other Windows 32bit release) in order to operate the DJM-2000 properly.

3) Sell the mixer and turn elsewhere that the support for x64 is native.

I personally refuse to switch to a MAC, as I use Lenovo Thinkpad and Dell Precision Mobile Workstations.

For the same reason I do not want to deal with windows 32bit anymore, that do not utilize my machines to the max.

So I think it's either time for a proper x64 driver to be released, or for getting rid of the mixer and switch to Allen & Heath for example.

What is the status so far of the driver/firmware release for the DJM-2000?

That's interesting as I have the exact setup and when I turn it up I get similar noise.

I  just thought I'd fried my speakers. 

I look fwd to the new firmware in that case Pioneer, don't sleep on your faithful customers... 

My DJM2000 works fine on my laptop running windows 7 64bit. Firmware V2.0 on DJM. Windows driver pack ver1.100.

Did you try goinging into the Djm setting utility and changing the Latency?

I have a DELL Precision M6400 Mobile Workstation equipped with 16GB of DDR3 RAM.

I had similar crackling issues in the past with a MOTU 828MKII USB soundcard and after tests and email exchanges with the MOTU Headquarters it appeared that the x64 driver had a limitation for systems equipped with RAM up to 4GB (and not more).

The issue was happening ONLY with the USB version of the Audio Interface and NOT with the firewire versions as the MOTU engineers confirmed.

So since the card was not working as advertised, I sent back the audio interface and was granted a full refund at it's current price then.

I am asking if the same limitation applies for the DJM-2000 x64 driver, as my most weak machine is equipped with 8GB of RAM due to the need of such amounts of Memory for Virtual Machines and Applications I run.

About the settings, yes I tried to do a lot of testing and experimenting with the settings, latency and tweaks, before I post this as an issue.

What should the Latency be Morgo?

Mine works ok at the default setting witch is 5.3msec. But if your having trouble try making it bigger and see how it go's.

It would be cool to see a dedicated 64 bit, windows 7 driver.

Exactly just as I thought. We have to check experiences of other users with 8GB or more of RAM, as you may fall into the 4GB barrier which I had similar experiences with my old MOTU Audio Interface. (plz check my aboev posts carefully).

I will try to lower down my main memory from 16GB to 4GB in my DELL Precision M6400 notebook, as well as in my other laptops and make some tests when I have the time to do it. However this problem should be passed and reproduced by Pioneer engineers in order to have a formal response for that (i.e. how does the DJM-2000 win 7 x64 driver behave under systems that are equipped with 4GB , 8GB and more than 8GB of RAM).

I personally run the DJM-2000 driver with my brandnew studio pc running a  I7-2700K CPU @ 3.6 Ghz and 16 GB RAM

It does work.. but sometimes I have to switch of the mixer a few times to get a proper connection.. 

I also get some clicks trough the audio despite increasing the latency.. would be nice if they looked into updating the driver or make dedicated drivers for 32 and 64 bit versions

soo from what I read here there are no 32 and 64 bit versions but just one? I use mine too on a windows 7 ultimate system with an i7 cpu and 32 GB ram

Seems to work fine but sometimes I have to reboot the mixer few times to make it actually work.

Correct; there is only one version and it works for both 32bit and 64bit OS versions.  I've opened a ticket with the engineers to see if it is something related to high amounts of system RAM as that seems to be a common thread.

Engineers have asked if the users experiencing these problems have any other audio interfaces connected / configured within their systems.

There is no other Audio interface connected or being used at the same time.

However I have to note that since I am working with notebooks lately (a Dell Precision M6400 and a Lenovo X201s), these units have onboard soundcards and the driver of them is installed so that they can be used with Windows 7 SP1 x64 (or Fedora Linux) for multimedia generic usage or skype.

Please also take notice that both of my notebooks have skype installed and setup as a main application for sessions and voice calls. I mention this because skype uses a weird dummy driver that creates a virtual Audio communications device while in use and my DELL onboard soundcard doesn't seem to like it that much..

Gigging on Saturday night with my Xone4D on a party, I had no issues at all with a Lenovo x201s and 8GB of DDR3 RAM installed (Win7 x64 Ultimate SP1 OS).

Since my free time is too tight in the last couple months, I could not perform a side by side test with the DJM-2000, so I trusted my Xone4D for a trouble free gig. I hope I can do the tests required within October and I will let you know.

As for the memory addressing barrier I suspect, I can add another machine for testing the DJM-2000. It is a Lenovo W520 Mobile Workstation, equipped with 12GB of DDR3 RAM, an i7 2760QM processor and Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1. Since the unit is new and the installation is clean, if there are any Audio hickups or distortion on the DJM-2000 I will blame the driver and not my W520 unit for sure...

Please be patient so that I can complete my tests and post the results.

Hello Pulse and thank you for your support. Unfortunately I sold my DJM-2000 to a friend in December 2012.

Therefore I was not able to perform any tests, but I can ask him which OS he uses in his laptop and if he encountered any issues at all.
