I don't have mine set up right now to test but I believe the answer was to set the effect channel selector to the master rather than the channel or crossfader.

DJM-800/900 post effects on crossfader
Hello,
My question, is it possible to have the echo effect on the 800/900 post crossfader? When i shut down a channel fader with echo ON, the sound will nicely echo out, but when i use the crossfader, the sound (including echo) will cut off as soon as the crossfader closes.
In this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYYHq_N1cgY at 1:08 i can hear the echo even when the fader is closed. I searched everywhere but can't find the setting for this.

Ok, but that would make the master echo, but i only want to echo the scratching channel, while on the other channel the music just plays normaly. The video explains exactly what i'm trying to accomplish. If you have the oppertiunity to test, that would be great. I lived years without this feature so i'm not in a hurry :)

Ah, in that case simply assign it to the crossfader channel you're cutting; in the case of the video, it would be assigned to CFA.
