Ventilation space?

So in the manual of the DJM 900 it says to leave at least an inch of space on the side of mixer to ventilate the mixer from heat. If this was an issue, why do 99% of set ups have CDJs pressed flush with the mixer. Even in official Pioneer promo vids (RMX-1000 vid) the gear is all bunched together with no ventilation space. I mean sure the gear gets a little warm when used for a while but it doesn't compare to my macbook which you could fry an egg on. Is this something I should even be worried about or am I wasting my time?

If you're in a hot ambient-air temperature environment, then you should consider leaving room for the mixer to breathe, but in most cases, you're okay to have it up against other equipment or even in a roadcase.

@ Tarek Shbib - Got to agree about the macbook.  I cooked my breakfast on mine this morning and was done within a matter of minutes.  :-D
