[SOLVED] HDJ-500 Cable Tip Breaking?

I recently bought a pair of HDJ-500-K headphones, and the audio quality has been great. However, on both of the audio cables it came with, the tips broke off, and now the headphones are useless! ( http://i.imgur.com/eUQwl.jpg ) Is there a way to get it back on myself? Or will I have to get a replacement for this? And if I do need to get a replacement, will I be able to get it for free?

Thanks for any help!

@Marco D > You'll have to get the cable replaced, which isn't so bad. When did you buy the headphones? Do you still have the original receipt?

I bought it a couple of months ago... I don't think I have the receipt still...

Actually never mind, I think I used credit. Still not 100% sure though. What would I do in both scenarios?

Start by approaching the retailer you bought them from. See how they help you. You can explain to them that you have misplaced the original receipt but you did pay with credit card and they might be able to dig up your details then - proving the item is still within the warranty period.

Incidentally, how did it break?

I put it into a headphone jack and when I took it out the tip just popped off...

If I'm not able to get the receipt, how much will it cost to replace?

@Marco D > I'm not quite sure how much, you'll have to discuss that with the retailer.

Wow, I've never seen that before -- if you can't make any headway with the retailer, I've got a white replacement cable I'll send you.

I have exactly the same problem. It broke into my mp3 player.

I could contact the retailer, but I don't know if they can help me. My headphone is the red limited edition "It's just musik by Laurent Garnier" sold on his website in a bundle with the DVD.

I'll try to mail them.

If there's no positive answer, is it possible to find a solution here?

Thanks for your help

The retailer should be able to help and or direct you to the warranty that may cover the issue at hand..  Let us know and we'll do what we can to help out.

Hello.

I received the retailer's answer and they told me they are not responsible for that item. They told me to contact another company that handeled the shipment. But they can't help me either. So I ask for your help.

Where can I find a replacement cable? (the short, black, straight one)

Thanks

@Kharim > How old are the headphones? Where are you located?

I suggest you go back to the shipping company or the retailer and inform them of your legal rights - the contract of purchase is between you and them and they have a legal obligation to handle your request (assuming such laws apply and this is done within a reasonable timeframe).

I had the exact same problem happen to me, though I have had the headphones for a couple years now. It broke off into my ipad, which I now have to get the apple store to fix. I am having a hard time finding replacement cables.

So I just got off the phone with Pioneer and they want 70$ for replacement cables. Which is so stupid.. really really stupid. I can go out and buy a brand new pair for 90$...so that doesnt make any sense. I found another reputable company that has similar headphones and the replacement cables are only about 15$ dollars. So it looks like my investment in these headphones was a waste of money. I dont think I will be purchasing pioneer headphones in the future.

@Paul > Its a mini-XLR (Tini QG) to 3.5mm cable. You can probably pick them up at any good audio cable supplier.

@Ernest > You can follow the advice I gave to Paul or you can contact Pioneer directly to order a new cable. If it is still within warranty, then bring the headphones back to the place of purchase along with the receipt for replacement. Contact links are in the column on the right >>
