HDJ 500 high freq sounds

just bought an HDJ 500 and I'm "very" disappointed with its sounds, high freq sounds horrible, make me even difficult to use it for mixing, is it just me or someone else feel the same? sound like broken distorted highs (not a lot but a little, reminds me the sounds of old piezoelectric components)... don't know if I need to return it but I'm very sad about it, an headphone 10 time cheaper can sound better. buying it online wasn't a clever choice, I will never take an headphone again without listening it first.

Perhaps you have the volume too high? I've tested all of Pioneer's headphones for prolonged use and while the HDJ-500 is the entry-level headphone, it does sound decent at lower volumes. I found it would distort quicker than other HDJ models when the volume was turned up, but it was usually too loud for listening at that point anyhow.

Hi Pulse, thanks for reply.

I'm lost, I never use it a high volume. I bought HDJ 500 because I've found few reviews online that say it has good bass sound... well, I only can hear strong mid and irritating high (I play house music), bass is not bad but it is just covered in my opinion. I don't think it is broken because it doesn't sound broken to me, but it is a very big surprise to me to discover how it sounds. On the other hands it could be useful to check some mix on this headphone that enhance unpleasant frequencies. I'm really trying hard to justify this buy.

Completely disappointed on this one... sorry.
