X-Pad Tutorial

I'm very new to using the RMX-1000,I have gotten tremendous use of the Isolator,Scene and release effects, but I have yet to get a real handle on using the X-Pad effectively.Does anyone know of a tutorial of video that explains the techniques used for fills and Roll/Slip Roll etc...? Thanks in advance and I apologize if this is too much of a noob request :-)

Its certainly not a noob request - we're here to answer all questions.

The best option is to keep playing around with the function and discover new tricks for yourself.

There are a couple of performance videos on the YouTube channel here: youtube.com/pioneerdjglobal

I'll suggest it that we should make some walkthrough videos.

Gavin, Gary, a lot of video's show realtime sampling of the played audio - how do you do this without pre- storing the samples ?

I agree I have seen all the performance videos and while they are great it's hard to really tell what the performers are doing (in detail) Again the other functions on the RMX-1000 have a small learning curve, the X-Pad presents so many options that an in depth tutorial would be very beneficial (at least to me and hope others)Thanks again guys for the responses.

Paulm72 They are doing this buy having the Roll button selected about the X-Pad and then using the X-Pad to capture a piece of the audio that is running through the RMX at that time.  It's also handy to setup the RMX to your own preference so you know what each point on the X-Pad does.  For me centre point is 1/1 and then to the left is 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and to the right of the centre it's 4/1, 8/1, 16/1.  I use the hold button a lot when using the roll feature.  I hit the hold button first and then when there is a part of the track I want to capture I'll press the corresponding part of the X-Pad depending on how much of the track I want to sample.  I normally deselect the input button beside FX Source so that all the effects are only affecting the X-Pad.

If you are using the X-Pad with samples it's great to build up 4 beat loops by simply tapping 1 of the 4 buttons about the Pad.  It will loop this if the Overdub button is lit up.  If you want to do a fill using the X-Pad on a snare for example make sure the snare is selected and then press the X-Pad and once finished press the overdub button and it will go back to the original 4 beat loop you had already created.

Damn can't edit my post.  On both occasions it should say above the X-Pad not 'about'
