[SOLVED] CDJ-400 + Traktor 2: Issue with direct USB connection

I cannot understand why but a couple of CDJ-400 i've already used in the past are not working anymore with Traktor 2 (direct USB connection through Powered HUB). First of all i wanna underline that i regularly use the same setup with other CDJ-400, CDJ-900 and CDJ-2000 with no problems.

  1. These CDj-400s have been updated to the latest firmware.

  2. In MIDI Audio Setup (OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8) i can see both of them and they've been set in an aggregated device called "BOTH CDJ-400"

  3. In Traktor 2 i can select "BOTH CDJ-400" and every single player has been set to the correct deck (A and B)

  4. One CDJ-400 has been set to MIDI CH 1, the second one has been set to MIDI CH 2. Before doing this the two decks on Traktor  were playing at the same time as soon as i pressed the Cue button on one CDJ-400.

Problem: i can browse the database, i can cue a track, but the play button is not working at all on both the Pioneer cd players.

I see what you mean but i still have a doubt... Why re-mapping if i connect othe rcouples of cdj-400s and it works perfectly? I can do it of course but i cannot understand the specific problem with this pair of cd players. :(

I will try with the wizard...

@Giona > Do you have the MIDI maps set the same for both sets of CDJ-400's?

Ciao Pulse,

well, when i open the Controller Manager i find all the CDPlayers that have been used with Traktor. Speaking about the CDJ-400 i can see two couples and they seem to have the same MIDI MAPS (as far as i can see)

Hey,

For some reason, when I start up my CDJ 400s when connected to Traktor and switch on USB mode, the CDJ does not ask me whether I would like to assign it to Deck A or B as it is supposed to.  I updated the firmware and also did the audio setup.  I still need to aggregate the two cdjs, but that shouldn't prevent the CDJ from asking the "Deck A or B" question, right?

What am I missing here???

Thanks much,

George

@George > Have you disconnected the CDJ's from the computer via USB at all? Or have you left them plugged in to the computer all the time?

Also, do you start up Traktor before you connect, power up, or set the CDJ's to USB? You should set the CDJ's first, then start up Traktor when everything is ready.

I have tried starting up Traktor with the CDJs both on and off.  Perhaps I should turn the CDJ on, start Traktor, and then finally toggle USB mode?

Also, I don't need a CDJ400 specific TSI mapping in order to use them in HID mode, right?

I'm thinking that I should just opt for using them with Timecode instead of HID perhaps.  That does produce better sound, right? Although, I would like to figure out how to get plug and play in HID mode to work....

Thanks for your help, Foster.

Best,

George

@George > If you want to use the CDJ's in HID Mode and to control Traktor, you will need the .tsi file. Do you have the .tsi file?

Which version of Traktor are you using?

What Operating System are you running on your computer?

Yes, please make sure the CDJ's are connected and powered on before you start Traktor.

If you are just trying to use the CDJ's with timecode CD's, it will be better for latency, but doesn't provide you with as many controls as HID mode does. I would recommend using HID control personally.

I see.  I saw that a few people had posted some online, but I am currently running Traktor Scratch Pro V. 1.1.2.004

I am running Mac OS X V 10.5.8

I am guessing then that a combination of HID mode and timecode is the best setup then?

Thanks, G

And no, I don't have the TSI file unless it has been uploaded to my Mac via Traktor's provided TSIs, was it in that pack of mappings?

@George > I gotta run so I'll make it quick. lol

  1. You should update your version of Traktor. Always try to use the most up to date version. You can update through the Service Center

  2. Timecode and HID mode is not capable in Traktor unfortunately.

  3. If you update through the Service Center, make sure you download the additional content and mapping files with it. Yes make sure you have the .tsi file and use the "Setup Wizard" in Traktor to assign the CDJ's.

If on mac, you'll have to make an aggregate device to use both CDJ's

@George > Let me know if you get it working or if you need a bit more infer. My apologies about the rush earlier too. :)

But just to add, it's always best to start your own thread if you're not sure if the topics are directly related. :)

@Giona > Did you get the CDJ-400's to work properly after all?
