[SOLVED] CDJ 1000 MK1

Hi, i have 2 questions about the cdj 1000 mk1

Could you tell me if it has a

1: Slot to put a memory card?

2: Pitch variation of more than +10

I have looked online/google but i am getting conflicting info due to the upgrades of the mk2 and mk3.

i'm pretty sure the answer to question 2 is yes but am very unsure about question 1.

thinking about buying one in the next day or so. So just want to be sure about what i'm buying.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Jon, I'm pretty confident in my answers, but not 100% sure as I never used the MK1 model before.

  1. Yes there is an SD card slot. It only lows you to store waveform data and Cue Points on the card though. You cannot play music off the SD card. Also, it is not SDHC compatible as far as I know, but you shouldn't need that much space on a card with the 1000's anyways.

  2. The "Tempo" control has a variation of +/- 6%, +/- 10%, +/- 16%, and +/- 24%. So yes, it is greater than 10%, but it does not include the "WIDE" range.

I hope this helps. :)

I hope you're not paying much for those 1000's ... the MK1 had a really slow memory performance.

£350 for 1 seems a bit steep for a MK1 considering I just found a pair of used MK3's on eBay UK for £700.

@Jon > Yes, +/- 100% is overkill for regular use. But sometimes DJ's can implement it conveniently as an effect from time to time if done properly.

If you can go for it, the MK3's are worth the extra cash in my opinion as they have more capabilities, you can adjust the jog to suit your style, and overall have a better build then the previous models.

such a sham i've paid for it now. the mk2 and 3 i have seen to get them for around the same price i pai you would have to buy 2.

Not that gutted thou as i'll be over the moon just to mix cd from cd anyway.

mk1 will be right for juggling and scratchin thou?

from my experience pioneer product are the best you can get and expect the same from this.

i know there are improvements on the later models.

@Jon > That's too bad, I think the MK3's would have been well worth it.

The MK1 can still scratch okay, but you won't have the same capabilities as you do on the MK3 because the MK3 has a knob to control the tension on the jog platter. This allows you to tighten or loosen the jog wheel to your liking which can be very handy if you prefer a specific intensity to mimic more of a vinyl feel.

Yeah, Pioneer gear is the best you can get imo. It has the best features and capabilities in the industry, which is pretty much why all the big names and big venues demand the gear.

Also, the MK1 does not support MP3 files on CD. You will have to use WAV I think. I don't know it there is another file type compatible with it, but I know MP3 is not.

The screen on the MK1 is also a bit harder to read as it's placed lower into the unit and isn't as bright as the MK3.

I also read this, but I don't know how true it is:

*"Cue/mixing - On the MK1 you can not hold down the cue button and push play if you want the track to keep playing. When you push play the track will go back to it's original cue point. On the MK3 if you do this the track will continue to play and you can take you finger off of the cue button. This is a huge one for me as it is to most people that are used to playing on newer CDJs that have this feature."

*

I believe that is everything different I know between the models, but Pulse may be able to add a couple more for you.

cheers excellent response..yea i'm slightly gutted now.

the cue button thing aint an issue i tend to tap cue a few times anyway and then when comes to dropping, i switch to the play button. alot of other brand cdj are like this so no biggy.

but yea looking at it i have paid about £50 over what i should of.

@Jon > I'm sorry to hear that.

I'm sure you will still really enjoy your new CDJ-1000 though! I have no doubt in that as long as it works properly.

But next time you're looking to pickup a new piece of Pioneer gear, don't be afraid to ask for some info on the forums and do a bit of price comparisons to make sure you're getting a good deal. :)
