CDJ-800 MK2: E-8302 Error Message

So I purchased a pair of CDJ-800 MK2 players just over a year ago (apparently right before they got discontinued) and have been having intermittent E-8302 errors on one of the players. The other one works like a charm. I have gotten past it by simply power cycling the player once or twice and eventually it will read the disc. I was contacted by @gavin_mcmahon via Twitter and told to post here to get this resolved.

I have attached a picture of the error message for convenience. I would really like to get this resolved seeing as how I blew $800+ bucks on these brand new just over a year ago.

@Nathan > thanks for coming to the forums. It's much easier to provide support here with no 140 character limitation!

First of all, are your CDJs on the latest firmware?

Secondly, what software do you use to burn CDs / where do you download your music from? Have you embedded artwork?

Can you reproduce the problem consistently? Perhaps the error occurs with the disc rather than the CDJ...?

Not sure what firmware I am running. Not even entirely sure how I would go about upgrading the firmware on these seeing as how I don't have a USB connection to them. Is there a new firmware disc that I have to burn?

I have been using them a bit tonight and think that this might be an issue that was only arising with one of my Serato control CDs. All the same, could you let me know what the E-8302 error means (the software engineer in me wants to know)? Also, how do I go about checking my current firmware version and upgrading if a newer version is available?

Thanks for the help!

New development. So I have been messing around with different disks in the player and ran into a slightly different error message (E-8303). Once again, this only occurred with one of my Serato Control CDs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It has been over a week now and I still have yet to hear any response to this issue...

I'm guessing they're burned CDs -- try using a better quality blank recorded at a lower speed.

@Pules > Never a good thing to assume or guess. I am seeing this issue mostly with official Serato Control CDs. These are not burned discs.

I didn't assume - that makes an ass out of someone.  ;)

Consider having the unit serviced, it could be that the pickup needs a cleaning / alignment / focus.

See, there I go "guessing" again.

i know this is super late at least to answer the original question, but i just encountered same issue on my 800.  i also use sera to, and solution that worked for me was burning a 4 minute 1 frame control cd, and works fine.  for some reason mine can't read a cd with a lot of information on it but it would read a cd with one song, so thats why i came up with the idea of short control cd.  i use elate mode so i just need a very short loop.  hope this helps someone
