@Colm > If you did decide to move to 900s then you'd have the option of using CD / USB / laptop (without / with ProDJLink) so you would open up a wide range of possibilites. If you don't fancy the smaller controllers and the 2000s are out of your price range I'd consider the 900s or, if you are willing to sacrifice ProDJLink, take a look at the 850s. The newer CDJs contain newer technology which means they integrate better with the range of DVS on the market.

SeguiCDJ 800 with laptop?
Hi,
I have 2 cdj800 mk 2s and as everyone seems to be moving to a laptop type interface, i was wondering what would work with my decks. Ideally, i'd like 900s but if i sold my 800s, i don't think i'd make much. I have a decent Samsung laptop already but don't fancy the small controllers. Any suggestions? Would Traktor Scratch work with the 800s?

Thanks Gavin,
The mixer i have is pretty basic- Behringer DJX 700 ( i think), is there any issue when using that with the newer software/hardware?
I would be looking at some of the timecode interfaces that will work with your 800's i have several friends doing this to bring them up to date and stop having to burn disks.
this will do all you are looking for, however if you want to upgrade then the 850s are the way to go if your on a budget :)
So the 800s will work with timecode cds? I can't really afford to upgrade for another few months. I like the 850s but if i'm going to spend a lot of money, i'd prefer the 900s with the mighty "slip mode"!
yes the mk1 800's are what my friend is using with timecode cd's
hes well happy like this as using the interface simply allows his mp3 library to be available.
Cool, well i have the 800mk2s so sounds good!
Is Traktor Scratch the best option or Serrato?
Sorry cant help with that one as we're not allowed to discuss compeitor products here.
@Colm > Its personal preference really. Try out both pieces of software and see which one you like best.
Hard to know what route to go down, some much choice and new technology coming out all the time. Thanks for the feedback though!
