SeguiCDJ 400 setup question
Hi there, I was wondering if this set up would work - I've tried searching for it but I couldn't find any similar topics. Basically, I am wanting to connect my laptop, Macbook Pro 13" to the CDJ 400s for easier music organising and searching. I've got my 2 CDJs wired up to a mixer (DJM 400) using the relevant RCA cables and then from the mixer, it's then connected to my speakers via RCA cables. However I was wondering if I can digitally feed mp3s from my laptop using software such as Serato or whatever by connecting the CDJs via USB to my Macbook. I understand the CDJ 400s do not need timecode CDs. Or am I just thinking way over my head? Thanks in advance.

@Josip > Not so much -- that software works with newer CDJs, but not the CDJ400's.
@Z > You can use CDJ400's as HID controllers for Serato or MIDI controllers for virtually any other DJ software when connected via USB, no timecode needed. If you go the Serato route, you will have to buy one of their SL boxes, but if you decide to use other software, you could use the built-in soundcard of the CDJ400.

You may say it doesnt work, but i believe my eyes mate...
@Josip > My apologies, I was assuming you were talking about rekordbox when, in fact, you were talking about DJS. DJS is now a very old piece of software from Pioneer that hasn't been updated in some time. I would recommend you use Serato or Traktor.
Thanks guys! As for Serato, do I really need the SL boxes for the software to read my CDJs when they can just be connected to the Macbook via the USB slots? If not what other simple and free software would you recommend? Note that I just want to have the freedom of having all my music compiled easily on one screen where I can just drag and drop to my CDJs and continue to do all the effects, loops, mixing, etc solely on the actual hardware after I have selected the track.
I found this picture online that shows exactly what my setup is and what I hopefully want it to run like.
@Z > Serato software will not run without the use of a Rane mixer or the SL box - so yes, you need the SL box.
