The thing to remember here is that rubber is a natural substance and it can be affected by the climate / environment it is contained within. Although I think this is probably the second time I've ever encountered this, I believe it is probably just a natural process. Can you post a pic?

Segui[SOLVED] CDJ 1000 MK3 jog wheel rubber suddenly covered with sticky residue
I have had the Pioneer cdj 1000 mk3 for around 5 years now. I bought them in Spain and they have spent their lives in my room, covered whenever I am not using them. However I have realised lately that the rubber material of the jog wheel on only 1 of the two decks has a sticky residue that has appeared and I cannot clean off.
I have read various forums but cannot seem to find any that refer to this problem. I never have food or drink near the deck and the residue is concentrated purely to the rubber material of the jog wheel.
Any help as to the cause of this would be greatly appreciated...and any suggestions to rid of the residue even more so!
Cheers fellow DJ's!

I had the exact same problem with one of my CDJ 800's. I'm not sure if there is a certain coating that Pioneer uses on the jog wheel rings which deteriorates over time and turns into a sticky mess but here is how I fixed it, (it's a very easy fix btw, it took me about 30 minutes)
@streits Thanks a lot for the reply. I will check the video out and hopefully have the courage to then take my cdj apart. I was sure the cause was of natural disintegration! Having left it a few days it's not so much of an issue but I am thinking of upgrading to cdj 2000 so would like them to be in a better condition for sale.
Will post again after the clean.
Thanks again.
This is not a technical help forum. Pioneer accepts absolutely no liability for any damage to you or the equipment as a result of 3rd party information. Please use the technical support links on the right hand side of the page for technical help.
Just to add the Easy Off cleaner will completely remove the sticky coating off so the jog wheel ring will be bare plastic after this is done. If you want to have the rubber coating the way it was when your CDJ was new you can buy a can of rubber coating (http://www.amazon.com/Performix-Plasti-Multipurpose-Rubber-Coating/dp/B000LNOOEO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354548291&sr=8-1&keywords=rubber+coating) at most hardware stores for about 5 dollars. Only apply the coating to the outer part of the wheel, let it dry completely and install it back.
