"Update Collection" USB Stick, Is is the other way around??

The update collection feature, is it backwards or something?? Ive read a post about this a long time ago and from what I remember, it updates the collection from your device to your computer. Shouldn't it be the other way around?? lol! I mean, I analyze and prepare most of my tracks (in random and in no particular order, old and brand new tracks alike) on my computer. You would think it would be as easy as edit some tracks on your comp and than update to your USB stick (As if your updating and syncing your iPod from any changes you made on your computer) But it seems like if I want to edit my tracks and save that info onto the USB stick, I have to do so on my 2000's and than send the update to the computer....That defeats the purpose of even using rekodbox. Doesn't really make sense =/

The other option is edit track on comp, reload the track on to the device, delete the duplicate, re assign track back to its playlist(s), delete the duplicate in the playlist, and repeat with my next track.

I like to edit my tracks on my computer because thats what the software in meant to do... And I would like to send my updated info to my USB stick. "UPDATE COLLECTION"

I edit and update a lot of my tracks often. Will this "sync" feature ever exist?

A more advanced sync function in both ways SHOULD be there..

In my eyes this should be a standard feature that is absolutely a must have!

  • Update Cuepoints, hot cues, memory points from usb (when edited on CDJ) or update them back from RB to an existing playlist on USB Device
  • Update Tracklists with new tracks without having to delete and retransfer the list

I really hope we can see more of this feature soon!

If you work on several computers, I found that the only working solution is using the actual SD or USB as your master storage device.

But these tracks will not synch back to your computer when you "update collection". That is frustrating, but just one more reason to not use local storage. At least you can be sure that what you edit on CDJ or any of your computers, is really on there and shows up when you need it.

Make sure to backup the content of your SD/ USB to harddisk. (works only on PC, because on MAC some hidden files are not copied)

Forgive my ignorance but am I right in understanding that the Update Collection function updates Cue Points and Loop points from a USD device back to my RekordBox collection?  That's really handy if it does! (I'm too scared to try it after this thread, but that's the way I interprate the documentation)

I've changed computers and am currently trying to migrate the Hot Cues saved on my USB Stick to the new PC with no luck.

It might be that my 32gb Stick is nearly full but I'm having a lot of trouble just scrolling up the tracks list on it through RB.

Could this be a RB gremlin, or would the PC/USB Stick not be coping with such a large number of tracks to migrate?

@Angus > Yes, updating the collection will import CDJ-set data such as loops, cues etc.

@Musichaos > Please start your own thread for your own issues as we are less likely to miss them that way - When you have Rekordbox open and you click into the 'Device' section and then hit Update Collection is it not working? Are the tracks already on Rekordbox?

I just got my CDJ2000 yesterday, and had been using Rekord box a few days before, organising the library. And this was a feature that I would have expected. I'm shocked to find out that it's not a feature. I just had presumed I hadn't figured out how to do this.

Perhaps understandable why there is not syncing for the entire collection (as it may not all fit on the usb device), but syncing playlists is the very least that should be available.

The ideal: - Sync All, or Sync selected playlists, or both.

  1. Sync all

  2. Sync selected playlist('s)

  3. Sync cues-loops etc

That would be perfect.
