[SOLVED] 3.0 SYNC Manager is not syncing any of my playlists from iTunes....

Hi,

Right so here we go, I organise my music by iTunes...previously I have just used the bridge feature and synced my playlists and collection from iTunes to RekordBox.

However now in 3.0 SYNC Manager is not syncing any of my playlists from iTunes....

Need help before my gigs this weekend!

OK little update...In the RekordBox program from the left pane when I drag my playlists from iTunes into RekordBox playlists this seems to copy everything over all OK. Same with the IMPORT PLAYLIST from the PLAYLIST menu.....is this really the correct way to do this?

When using SYNC MANAGER nothing works apart from a circle with rotating arrows next to the playlists in the iTunes drop down that I wish to update!

I'm confused!

The Sync Manager should work, but is the manual method not working for you?

@Pulse...Sync Manager is defiantly not working. I have RekordBox installed on a different machine and still the same scenario.

Manual method is working OK for me I suppose...but isn't SYNC Manager meant to be the ideal way to do things?

@Pulse...No not SYNCING between two computers. Just SYNCING iTunes Playlists with ReckordBox Playlists....

I have the same problem... when it syncs my playlists: its adds the files to my rekordbox, but it doesn't update my playlists. so for now i have to do it manually :( throught it would sync the lists too...

Having the same problem here. I have the top "sync itunes playlists with rekordbox" as well as the playlists I want synced. Now the only difference is that is that I have a combo of playlist folders and single playlists in iTunes that I have selected for sync.

Only occasionally will it sync at rekordbox startup, but all the other times, I just get a frozen UI for a while... Then when I am able to click, the select playlists do not update.

Occurs both if the synced playlist is in rekordbox already or if it doesn't exist yet.

Same behavior happens even if you hit the big arrow in the sync manager. Bottom line is that it just doesn't sync consistently from iTunes to RB

I can also confirm this, it syncs the playlist folders and adds the new playlist songs into rekordboxs collection but the actually playlists themselves are not added to rekordbox. Seems to only occur when a new playlist is put inside a folder that is synced with rekordbox, playlists already added seem to update just fine. So is the sync manager suppose to add new playlists in synced folders or can this only be done manually by design.

Hi guys,

I used RekordBox yesterday on a live gig and the program seems to be running all OK (fingers crossed). Still have the problem with the SYNCING issue but doing this manually for now.

I spotted another problem, not sure if you guys noticed this too? None of my playlists are saving to the top palette where you can assign various different playlists. I can assign them and use them for one gig but once I shut program down to return to the program the playlists I assigned are no longer there. Should this be happening? Surely they should save unless I remove them right?

iTunes will not sync to  rekordbox and rekordbox will not sync to my drives.  Please fix the sync manager as quickly as possible.  The manual process is extremely tedious as I am limited to right click and Import/Export Playlist since there does not appear to be a way to view playlists side by side and drag/drop for organization.  This is the most common activity with the program, it should be the one that receives the most attention please.

On a similar note, I would be thrilled to pay monies for a RekordBox Pro version that has professional engineering put into it and receives more support than the less than minimal forum responses above.

have any of you guys noticed you now have another node in your 'playlist' section of sync manager and also on the left tree view of your playlists...

it would seem rb3 is creating a sync tree which is over and above your rb2x imported 'bridge' playlists...

how do we link the playlists together so q points, loops and other memory markers are maintained... here's the screen dump of my sync manager and the new itunes node in my playlists part of rb3.

maybe someone in pioneer land could do a 101 on this sync manager malarkie, rather than us guessing and getting our well oiled bridge lists screwed up

I'm having the same or similar problem since upgrading to 3.x... I can't DRAG music, Import music, OR use the Sync function from iTunes. If I browse my iTunes library inside rekordbox ALL my mp3's (that used to work fine) are now marked as "Track not supported". I tried downgrading to 2.x but had the same result.

Is there some flag set now on my music collection that prevents import?

Same. After using Sync manager to select the iTunes playlists I want synced to Rekordbox the tracks are analysed but not imported to Rekordbox automatically. I have to import them manually after.

Same issue here. Cannot transfer over all the music from itunes to rekordbox and then to USB. The bridge was easier in previous version.

Updated to 3.0.1 last week hoping it would fix the issues and it didn't unfortunately.

I'm starting to lose faith in Rekordbox after a couple years using it. Although the system works GREAT when you have your trax on a USB, it feels as though the workflow is falling behind when compared to other pieces of software. I would pay good $$$ for more development time as opposed to a free piece of software haha

I figured it out!

Go to sync manger. pick the itunes folder you want to carry to rekordbox. hit the first arrow. then select the file folder that was just created and hit the arrow folder. that will create the folder onto your usb stick and boom! From there you can edit your files. I would imagine that you can edit your files within rekordbox before sending them to your USB, but i didn't try that.

I take back all the bad stuff i said about reckordbox 3.0.

My RB 3.0.1 completely freezes after hitting the syncmanager button. My taskmanager shows no ation from rekordbox or the ProDJ link server at all during the freeze. As I noticed before, the iTunes XML file seems to be read in a new way. It allows less variation in it's header or demands more information (to work with?).

Anyhow. Syncmanager is not usable with my iTunes library connected. I didn't try the USB sync yet.

Ok, so I posted another topic before. It's the same as this one I now realize. I miss Pulse and I hope it's just because of the holidays because i see no action on this most important issues for DJ's that understand their professionalism starts with preparation. I am not at all willing to pay for the software that is integrated with the use of the hardware so much that one could not imagine the hardware needs to sell for top segment prices, having an additional name (Nexus or NXS) costing additional dollars or euros on top of the material price. The sales imply one can not be seen without the other. That is why one only pays for the hardware (Rane) to obtain Serato. So please stop making the Japanese managers heads spin on how to gain more money from Artists, and start demanding a good product. And realize that it is not free at all. If that would be the case there is no team of engineers.

Having said that I repeat me thinking of the sorry descicion I made stepping away from Serato and expecting I would get the same quality means sticking to what the industry leader provides. For now it seems they care about their money and not about their DJ's. So at the moment in Japanese headquarters the 'my first DJ' equipment seems to be the focus. From a money point of view i realize it is a direction that is hard to move away from considering how many kids will want to be a DJ next Christmas.

From that perspective it might be a smart move to setup a Pro- side for the pioneer DJ range. Just so we don't need to hear political answers in a technical environment. End of my plea to stick to the technical part of a technical issue and FOCUS!

I know now after testing this peace of software the way things are tested in IT environments that reading the iTunes Library is the problem. It no longer just reads the library but it looks for more information and if that can't be found it just stops working. So maybe your engineers should mention something like your iTunes needing to be always up to date with the tested version numbers of iTunes. I would like an answer with a list of specs but I think they think that should be a secret.

That way us Windows users can make the choice to stay away from Pioneer solutions considering they are gradually closing down their platforms for use by people who commit to their partners.

I do not want to test really using the latest iTunes application because i have no test environment setup that can screw up my music database without causing me hours of trouble. I'm already crossing my own borders installing iTunes to create a correct .XML. I crossed my fingers starting it up and was happy to find I could stop the automatic search before it would find my true Music storage location.

(I use a program that creates an iTunes readable library to prevent unnecessary use of resource use when I'm using my workstation for video.  iTunes unfortunately thinks it is proper method to keep working when I close it. It also screwed up too many friends libraries to be a trusted professional media-player. It is clearly created for clueless costumers that do not want to know or be bothered with technicalities and that doesn't fit my profile. It is however a very advisable peace of software for the beginner. You should always start playing and not being bothered. So again: it will provide for the "my first pioneer DJ".)

I copied and pasted the start of my thread into this one because what I miss in this topic and what leaves perfect handles to keep spinning around in circles is that I do not know at all on what systems my co-users are experiencing these problems. Mine is a Windows 7 x64 as you can now see. Are all Apple users happy users? (original topic:)

http://forums.pioneerdj.com/entries/82814453-Why-does-my-filemanagement-only-work-in-version-2-0-3-and-not-in-version-3-0-

Technical info concerning my system specs:

1) Operating System: Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate

2) OS Type: 64bit

3) Rekordbox version: 2.0.3 / 3.0

4) Using LINK: Yes

4b) Using with CDJs: CDJ900NXS (Latest Firmware)

6) Have you scanned your files for errors: Yes. And Rekordbox 3.0 calls them corrupt or missing but cannot relocate them. RB 2.0.3 calls them missing but can relocate them. That solves the problem for RB 3.0 too

7) Have you scanned your drive for errors: Yes

9) Are you able to repeat / reproduce the problem: Yes and I took my time for it. Doing fresh installs, cleaning registry, only one version installed, two versions installed, (cleanup steps in between every install) Old one first then new, new one first then old. No difference.

9a) If yes, can you do it consistently: Yes

10) Any other notes regarding your setup only: Workstation is a HP XW8600 with two Intel Xeon QuadCore processors and 8GB RAM

I have the exact same problem as Andrew above. All my iTunes files are marked "Track not supported". This started when I installed OSX 10.10 with iTunes 12.0.

RB 3.x has been working fine before.

Wow. That's a good thing to hear in a bad place to be. Happy to know it's not the machine :-) It's not even the app (iTunes). I hope you guys are getting closer to the solution this way. I'm more and more convinced it's somewhat more demanding on the iTunes data. That would be kind of logical since it seems Rekordbox needs to be most interactive with iTunes. Take a step back (step away from iTunes), and find that we do not want to be more dependent on iTunes (or entangled with...). Do you?

This weekend I had the time to make a System Image. After that i could make a fresh install. I created a workstation for audio workstation, video and 3D application before (Ableton, MC and Cinema 4D). The clean install only had Mediamonkey and iTunes installed. On the clean install Sync manager still crashes. I always have to refresh my iTunes library for the most recent update. If I do so, while closing I get the attached error. I hope it will tell the engineer something about the iTunes connection and the sync manager crash.

What works flawlessly in the same session:

- Opening up tracks.

  • adding cue points

  • connecting via Pro DJ link

  • loading track from PC to deck

  • Playing track

  • Pushing settings

  • Many other actions taken

If I then close the application while connected and track is playing it closes without a problem and reopens in last sessions panes open.

Only iTunes syncing gives me an error.

I had the same result in the fully equipped workstation version so I rolled back to my original system except for the debug message. Completely uninstalled all pioneer software after rollback. Installed 3.0.2. from file (no update). Now I have the debug message in my original system too. No other software related problems. --> Sync Manager  --> Debug message after iTunes library refresh

Well. I hope the engineers could use that last info to their advantage. great thing now is that finally the syncmanager is working! Jihooo..

No the only thing left is that it cannot read my iTunes library anymore. Good thing about that is that it is absolutely consistent now. Befroe I could only sunc my iTunes library once, the second time it would disappear and I'd have to reopen Rekordbox to get it synced again.

In the new version it actually consistently does not open my iTunes .xml anymore.

Syncmanager is working. With nothing (new) to sync.

Hold that thought!

I just reopened my iTunes to make it active, closed and opened RB again (v. 3.1.0) and my library got synced immediately!

And now the syncmanager does freeze my rekordbox again. Let's see where we're at. 6th of july to November 20. Nothing changed. No claims to make. Pioneer is doing this as a free gift. it's all good....maybe i just shouldn't commit to Microsoft if i want 'to belong'.

:-(
