hdd trouble again

Hello Pioneer

Someone needs to adress the elephant in the room !!

I am a "happy" owner  of a pair of cdj 900. i have a harddrive that i would like to use for mixing... but i get the "bad disc" error code. My harddrive is testet with a lot of programs... i have defragmentet and formatted it severeral times. still no luck... My pc, my tv, my stereo can all read the disc. i have also put it through the paces with recordbox. Someone needs adress this as this is frustrating. I used to have dnhs5500 and the advantage of this was that it made a database witch was stored on the player. Why have pioneer not done this? Why can it not read ntfs discs?

Will this be fixed by a firmware update?

@Zneacer > The CDJs do not read from NTFS partitions (Pioneer would need to pay Microsoft big licensing fees). The simple fact is, FAT works with Windows and Mac. No firmware update will address this as NTFS support will not be implemented.

There is no 'elephant in the room' - this is the best solution for all.

You will need to format your drive to FAT. If you need help on how to do this, please ask.

hehe Gavin you are a funny man... I did do so several times..... the ntfs part is not my biggest gripe about the players.... It is that it will not accept my hdd as a source of data... my hdd works fine for all other purpses pc,tv and so forth.... but not on the pioneer.... Why is that ?

and will that be changed in a future update?

@Zneacer > What type of hard drive are you using? Are you sure you have the HD formatted to FAT and not NTFS?

I'm with Gavin -- it's the drive itself that's likely the problem, even if it does work with your TV.

Is it bus-powered or wall-powered?

Do you have any hidden partitions on the drive?

Have you tried another USB cable?
