[CLOSED] Just got CDJ-2000Nexus Frustration & Errors :( :(

Okay guys,

 

So today I bought a pair of the nexus players and I thought most people on here where just doing things wrong and It was not so bad.

I WAS WRONG.

I am having a number of serious issues which I am going to write down here:

1. Player freezes when using Rekordbox Linked to my Macbook/Notebook or playing USB drive.

Sometimes it goes into emergency loop and sometimes I just lose everything and need to reboot!

2. When the player freezes when connected with LINK to Rekordbox.. Rekordbox is also crashing. ( I use latest RB)

3. All tracks within rekordbox I re-analysed  and added missing data (new analyze) but for some reason rekordbox did not update them all correctly and I am getting errors all over the place.. bpms are not filled out and the new info cannot be read by the nexus..sadly the option to analyze new data is greyed out.

4. The sync function is a joke, I checked the beatgrids and everything and it is just a nightmare.. does not work as advertised.

There is probably more but this are the major points.

Just to point out, I've been using CDJ-2000s since 2009 and am a Graduated IT expert so I know what I am talking about and this is 100 % sure a firmware / software related problem (or in the worst case scenario something with the nexus hardware) 

Please come out with a new FW update fast!

I hate to have to do this but feel this has to be said again  Pioneer

Kind of hard to admit this to myself but the huge expense of upgrading to the 2000 series(nearly £5000) has not been a good one for me although  it is  not all bad but have to point out that the once mighty Pioneer have left ALOT of Punters deflated by the plain fact that the Players , Mixers & software are not upto scratch and Pioneer are pushing ahead with more products without fixing the existing FLAWS. Do not get me wrong here as the equipment is always at the front edge of what can be done in this field. I feel that the equipment I own is kinda left in limbo with dodgey firmware updates that I don;t want to install because  ,,,  not only have problems with features such as ' MASTER TEMPO ' not been fixed despite that on the 1000mk1 it worked fine but Djm 2000 issues still need to rectified and nearly all rekord box updates after 1.53 seem to crash and freeze as well as many other woes ! The gear is still sh*t hot but PIoneer need to set aside the resources to get it working correctly and install the confidence back to the loyal customers before breaking out more flawed firmware updates or more flawed models in which we loose faith in !

Here is where my kit is left at , But operational  !!!:

2 x CDJ2000 mk1 = f/ware 4.05 (as purchased)

DJM 2000 ver 2.01

Rekord Box ver.1.53

I don't feel that after reading this forum site that updating beyond this has been a plus (very disappointed about how the Master Tempo was abandoned !!)  My set up is working  and I enjoy using it loads , but what this kit was marketed to do is just not happening, for me and that's a big Problem for future purchases as far as I'm concerned and despite the difficulties , GET YOUR CUSTOMER  SREVICE ,GET YOUR MARKETING AND GET YOUR TECH SORTED PIONEER YOU ARE BETTER THAN WHAT YOUR SHOWING US

Completely agree with what you said about focusing more on firmware updates rather than throwing out new products

Maybe 2013 will be the year for that? I understand they wanted to get into the controller market as well and all that stuff... now that they have pretty much all markets covered, it would be awesome if they just dedicated a whole bunch of people to software and firmware updates to fix every issue anyone complains about :D

I was also not sure whether all bugs where really there.. Now I am certain they are.. I hope they are bugs at least.. because then they can be fixed.

If there is no Firmware update within two weeks they go right back to the store

Are you running this rekordbox version: http://rekordbox.com/download/download.php?lang=en and does your system meet its requirements?

Do you have applications blocking dj link services? firewall, etc.  How big of a drive is your USB drive?  Does it all happen on an SD card?

Is your music file corrupted or not?

How many songs are you analyzing?  and are they all done (in your collections)?  Look on bottom left of RB and does it give you a number or you do see anything?  For testing purposes, try putting 1, 10, 20 files and at each iterations, export it and test it on your usb drive or dj link.

I dont know, I haven't used sync thus far so someone might be able to help but I will tell you that my quantize is functional.

Pioneer please listen and react .... and let us know whats happening. £3000 is alot of money ...

Yes I have all the latest updates, my PC meets to minimum specs easily, Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 Bit, 4 GB RAM, my usb drives are 16 GB it does also happen on SD card. 

Is your music file corrupted or not?

No, I did scan all my files and even did a integrity check for all my aiff and wav files, they are 100 % clean and working on 2000s or 900s.

I always switch of the firewalls and anti virus software so that cannot be the problem, rekordbox does work but at some point it will freeze or hang and I will get the irritating 'This program has stopped working' notification.

Rekordbox indicates I re-analyzed all files and I did do the new analyze for the Nexus.. but while doing it RB crashed a few times and now a lot of tracks do not show bpm or other information like waveform when connected to the nexus.

I even made my DJ database smaller, it contains about 5000 tracks at the moment.

I dont know, I haven't used sync thus far so someone might be able to help but I will tell you that my quantize is functional.

I tried every possible thing but the sync feature does not work very well for me.. tried to adjust beatgrids and everything but still very off.

I tried, but I am kinda pissed off about this since a lot of people have similar issues.. so it's not a simple user error on my part but probably buggy Software (Rekordbox) and crappy firmware and I am not happy with that after spending almost € 4000,-

Well this is what I did to fix my problems.

I did a fresh install of Mountain Lion and so far it works.

I will keep you updated

Hello Jack,

my 2 cents

1 and 2. Same to me when I tried to stream music from rekordbox directly, it froze the CDJ very quickly. But I have no issue using USB sticks. If you browse the forum you'll see that there are several issues when using USB hard disks, but generally with USB sticks it works fine.

  1. if you check all the beatgrids with metronome on rb the sync should work, it will not match the downbeats but it will match the closest beats. I don't use it because it's more fun and "stylish" to touch the cdjs a little bit when playing :) Anyway I saw on the waveform that sometimes the beatgrid is not very precise even tho I am 100% that the beatgrid was precise when I set it in rekordbox, that means those tracks probably would go into a trainwreck if I tried to use the sync. I'm100% sure the grids were correct on the computer so the CDJ makes something funny with them.

 

One small advice: check that you have the same firmware version on both CDJs. This should resolve a lot of issues with crashes and freezes. I'm not saying that the last firmware is good (it is not, it has even new bugs LOL), but at least you should try to have the same firmware on both CDJs. My CDJs had two different firmwares and I experienced most of your same problems, crashes and unusable sync.
