Hi am clued up with recording using Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus with Audacity but I only want my set to be recorded without mic. People ask for my mix but they don't want to hear any shootouts from the mic.
Two ways... and I'm assuming you're on a Mac?
1) Your easiest option is to disable the mic from the booth output, then send the audio output from the booth out to the line in on your computer, record in software.
2) The complicated option is to send all four channels of audio post-fader to be recorded in the software, then after the set is recorded, do a mix-down of all four audio feeds into one flat file.

Page 23 of the owner's manual tells you how to get into the Settings menu (Club Setup), from there you can toggle the Booth Mic setting.
Great i got it thank you but just wish i could change the setting without turning off the power. I won't be able to achieve what i want if i'm coming on to play my set after another dj which is normally the case. A recording feature (with mic cancelling input option) in a new Rekordbox update would be great a feature.

You do it once, and that only affects the BOOTH output (which you don't want the mic coming into the booth in most cases anyhow).
I just realised i can't connect to the booth output to my recording device because the booth outputs are used already. Would it work if i connect to 'Rec Out'?
No; the mic is sent via the REC OUT.

You could use the 2nd option, which would require a bit more technical effort on both the recording and editing sides, but would achieve your desired goal of not having the mic in the mix.
A 3rd option would be to add a small mic mixer (like a Mackie VLZ-402) so the output from the DJM goes into the 402, then you connect the mic to the 402 and the outputs from there go to the house. That way you could record from the DJM's outputs without the mic since it's added post-output.
I tried the second option to send all four channels of audio post-fader to be recorded in Audacity, and set the input of Audacity to DJM 900 as i would normally, but nothing records when i press the record button in Audacity. I just get a strait line while its in record mode. Also its one track stereo recording like when it works with the REC OUT setting on Pioneer. I was expecting when set to audio post-fader 2-4 tracks stereo recordings on Audacity to show up and then as you said to mix them down to one recording when i finish my set. Is there a link or can you explain how to set it up so it works in Audacity? Another thing i should mention is my channels are set to CD/Line on the mixer. Should that be set on another setting to make it work with audio post-fader setting?
i had this issue , top and bottom of this pioneer have not issued the 64 bit drivers for windows , try and use ableton to record mate .they have a 32 bit option programe
That's not the problem @John, if you're wanting to use ASIO you have to compile a version of Audacity yourself which can use the ASIO functionality; you can't simply download it ready to work with ASIO devices. Chances are @ad2011, you're using the MME or LINE drivers for the DJM, which only allow for a single pair to be captured. No, it has nothing to do with the input selector on the mixer, and unfortunately I'm out of my office right now so I can't create a walk-through guide for you. If you can wait until the weekend, I can give you step-by-step instructions.
Hi pulse , the program i am using is MAGIX audio studio that will not record from usb to PC (windows)
@John > If the software is running a 64bit application, it won't work with the current 32bit DJM drivers, you would need a 32bit version of the application to have access to the multiple I/O.

@ad2011 > Please don't take this the wrong way, but if you want to do post-recording mixing, I'm going to suggest you spend time learning how to set it up and do it yourself. That kind of information and instruction is something I charge clients a heap of money to teach and is outside of the scope of services Pioneer DJ provides. Sorry!
Ok well thank you for your help anyway.
A cool addition to the DJM-900NX2 Setting Utility would be to have the booth output as an option. That USB channel could then be used to record without the MIC. Also, the booth output should bypass the talk over functionality. Right now, even if the MIC is off on the booth output, if the talkover option is enabled it ducks the booth audio which is no good if I'm recording that output.
