For music production the timing of the unit is incredible. Pioneer knew that in order to create music production equipment it had to seamlessly work with the rest of their products. Which means the sequencer is impeccable. Here is a list of things that are some of my favorites.

First off all audio files must be 24bit 44.1khz use Audacity when in doubt.

Browsing audio on the Toriaz SP 16 is extremely intuitive The unit not only remembers exactly from where an audio file is loaded it also will instantly point to the location of the source files location in memory. Accessing and loading files is instant gratification. Pioneer got it right.

The sound quality of this unit is immaculate also even when recording into the unit. The quality is exceptional with a level of sonic detail.

Using a thumb drive or connecting to a computer is hassle free and super fastAt any point in time you can engage the machine at any point.

The response of the unit is immediate and instantaneous like realtime (no latency) the unit is very fast and it is easy to use even in a live scenario. 

I was apprehensive about the Toriaz because it only had one sample per pad and it seemed like it was just a phrase sampler. But after being hands on with the unit you realize it can load a sound as fast as you can think of it. Editing, mixing, arranging, its all there laid out in a highly intuitive creative manner.

There are some minimal things about it that are missing but overall the unit is an excellent answer to music production needs today. Who would have thought that Pioneer would be the one to deliver a product that pushes the creative boundaries of music production. If Pioneer adds more capability to this this instrument it will be the hottest production piece of gear ever in history.

One secret function exclusive to the Toriaz SP 16 is the fact that it allows you to shift the sequence of individual tracks in small and large increments allowing you to offset tracks from one another in time at the sequence level. While the sequence plays everything is always realtime.
