Hi, I'm wondering if the following behavior is desired and consistent:
When I set a loop by pressing the loop knob (e.g. a 4-beat autoloop) the loop is set and starts playing. Then I press an empty hot cue button to save the hot cue with the loop on it. When I press the hot cue button the loop starts playing as desired.
Now: when the loop is playing and I press the temporary cue button (with hot cue replacement enabled), the playback stops as desired. When I then press play again, playback starts but the loop is inactive. E.g. pressing CUE and then play deactivates the loop and afaik that's different behavior than in rekordbox, no? I can only start playback with the loop via the hot cue or by using the re-loop funcation (shift + loop knob).

It seems like an inconsistency with Rekordbox. On the Opus Quad, pressing CUE stops playback as expected, but pressing PLAY after that deactivates the loop. In Rekordbox, the loop usually stays active.
Might be worth reporting to Pioneer DJ if unintended.

Thanks for the helpful comments and insights with which I agree. However, I'd like to point out that the behavior on the OQ is not consistent. Sometimes it does keep the loop active when pressing hot-CUE, then cue to get to the beginning of the loop and then play. Sometimes the next play is with the active loop, sometimes the loop is not active. I don't mind either way but consistent would be useful and also described how it's supposed to work and how/why.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too on the Opus Quad. It threw me off at first because I was expecting it to behave like Rekordbox, where the loop stays active after hitting CUE and then PLAY. On the Opus, it seems like hitting CUE always disables the loop unless you retrigger it manually or hit the saved hot cue.

Huh, that's kinda annoying! I use loops all the time, so that Opus Quad behavior would definitely mess with my flow. Hope Pioneer fixes that in an update soon Destiny Matrix!

In Rekordbox, when you stop and resume playback from a looped cue, the loop generally stays active. But on the Opus Quad (and similar Pioneer italian brainrot gear), pressing CUE effectively resets the loop state. When you then press PLAY, it just starts linear playback without re-engaging the loop.

I’ve been digging into this “loop not active when playing from cue” issue on the Opus Quad, and it seems to boil down to how the device handles loops versus cues exported from Rekordbox.
Active loops must be set using memory cue banks, not hot cues Hot cues trigger an instant return point, whereas memory cues support full loop playback when hitting Play.
