CDJ 400 Driver Issue.

I'm trying to connect my 2 cdj-400's via usb to my desktop. I've updated firmwares to 1.33 - fully updated windows and installed the latest 1.5 drivers. The cdj's when plugged in show up as 'usb composite device' with driver errors on device manager / devices.  I've tried reinstalling all drivers, usb drivers etc. to and virus scans / malware scans and then a full format.   - I installed them no problem on my laptop which has the same windows on same updates, using the same usb wires so it rules out that. they show up fine as cdj 400's both of them.

I've literally spent about 15 hours trying to sort this out and it's driving me crazy - a couple of more things I've tried / tested.

Motherboard bios is up to date, usb cables directly in motherboard, cdjs on pc mode and off pc mode.  (Oh the pioneer software version display utility shows them there as cdj400's 1.33 firmware ) . please help I'd really like to get this sorted so I can use them and I'm totally lost now.

One note - on the cdj 400 support / driver page ( https://www.pioneerdj.com/en-gb/product/player/archive/cdj-400/black/support/ ) there is a 'software update' 1.0.4 - which has been updated 5th sept? it doesn't link to anything because it's archived?

Thanks in advance
Anthony

The Software 1.04 you are referring to is the Aggregator Software which for my knowlede is the same for many CDJs. I assume you are fine to download this software from the CDJ-2000nxs2 download page.

https://cdn.pioneerdj.com/-/media/pioneerdj/downloads/software/cdj-aggregator/cdjxdj_aggregator_104.zip

Hope that helps

PS: As you can see the download is not CDJ specific and got its own place. Even in the description it says it is compatible with the CDJ-400.

Thanks for the reply, ah right - that's just for splitting the channels on mac right? So no need for it on windows?

A little bit of an update - So after formatting for the 4th time..and spending a hell of a long time trying to get the drivers to work properly. I've noticed that sometimes when the cdj's are plugged in half the driver loads ( say cdj 400 audio, but then the midi or another file in the driver isn't working and has a error on it ) - sometimes they even load as 'cdj 400' instead of usb composite or audio device but still with errors.  -

the cdjs show up in the utility as cdj 400 v1.33 - and tracks load up from traktor scratch into the cdj.  The pioneer asio says 'not connected' though.  Can Pioneer please let me know if there is a known issue with cdj 400's and windows 10 64bit as I've spent 3/4 days yes DAYS trying to sort this out and it's getting to the point where I'm considering just selling everything. please help me figure this one out. :(

Nice support there Pioneer...

It's not you Brando, nor is it Windows 10.  I'm on Windows 7 still and I've had the same issue with my pair of CDJ 400's for literally years.  I've been able to circumvent the issue only by unplugging every other USB device, restarting the computer, and then turning on the CDJ's immediately (though sometimes even that doesn't work, and you have to turn them off and on again a few times to get them to properly connect).

It's absolutely ridiculous, and my suspicion is either crappy drivers from Pioneer or something on the USB side of the CDJ 400's being too old (they don't even work at all in a USB 3.0 port).  It seems to be incredibly picky about the hardware it's plugged into, what motherboard and even what other USB devices are plugged in, even which CDJ you turn on first (for me I've always had to turn on my left CDJ 400 first, if I turn on the right one first, then left refuses to ever connect.  It's bs).

I'm personally ready to drop Pioneer for good and go with a company who knows how to make proper drivers for their hardware.

I have the same error on Windows 10 with CDJ-400. Rekordbox doesn't recognize the CDJ's when try to load them with the ASIO driver.

Also, i can't find older drivers (e.g. 1.500) for the CDJ-500, so i have no way to determine if the problem is caused by the drivers.

When will Pioneer fix this?

Given that the CDJ-400 is nearly 14 years old, and was discontinued ages ago, I'm going to assume there are no plans to address this issue, especially given that it does not affect all users. Sorry!
