Device Library is corrupted

My USB is not working in the PC, error message with device library is corrupted appears. The thing is I can still play on CDJs since USB loads normally there but I cannot manage it via Rekordbox on PC. I am not able to restore all my playlists since I was making them right in the USB and on a lot of computers, not only mine so it is hard to build it all once again. I really would like to access the USB on the PC, I know it has something to do with export.pdb file on the USB since once I delete that, error message is gone but as well all my playlists. Please help!

Unfortunately there is currently no ability to re-create or restore a corrupted database, however our rekordbox team has taken the feedback into consideration for future updates. The recommendation is to always maintain a second copy of both the main collection (available by making a backup by going to File > Library > Backup Library), as well as carrying two copies of your export device.

It sounds like you have done someting with your USB media... Did you change or format USB media and copy-paste the music files? This will result in different file routing towards RB, what gives the so called "corrupted' files.

I think you have to rebuild your RB libary over again to make this work...

@The Martens > Which version of rekordbox are you using? There was an issue with a previous version where this warning would occur, but as of 5.4.2, this does not happen.

I too need to solve this issue, surely you don't have to rebuild every playlist from scratch? I'm mean my rx-2 reads all the tracks as normal from playlists so why can't rekordbox (pc) do same or at least have a way of restoring your playlists from the drive, the information is there to read from usb...

@johnny > Same question as I've asked everyone else -- which version of rekordbox are you using?

Im on 5.4.3. I was on 5.4.2 when I got the message so I updated to 5.4.3 and stil get the message...  please tell me there is a fix on this issue as my XDJRX2 recognizes all my playlists but reokordbox (pc) doesn't. also I think ive identified which folder is the problem, it is PIONEER folder as when I rename that folder to something else it lets me use record box as normal but but neither my RX2 nor rekordbox (pc) recognizes any playlists at all...

@johny > Yes, because that's your export database location! Removing or renaming it removes the database.

Is there a reason you can't format and re-export?

Do you mean taking all the folder etc off the drive, then formatting pen drive again then transferring all my info/folders back onto drive and plugging back into recordbox (pc) ? will this restore all my playlists from my pen drive back onto rekordbox  (pc) like normal operating before I got the error?

No, I mean formatting the USB device and exporting everything to the drive again -- don't copy things off, then format, and copy them back.

That sort of defeats the reason I'm posting here, I want to preserve my playlists, not have to rebuild all my playlists from scratch, I've got 4 years worth of playlists that show on my rx2 with my pendrive but don't show on my pc, why isnt there a fix for this problem that's clearly rekordbox.

And it's not just as easy as "exporting everything" I've got three sub folders for every month for the past 4 years to rebuild.

@johny.

Where is your rekordbox collection stored? Is your USB your main collection and you do not have it on the PC?
You got any backups?

Hope you didn't invest years of work into your collection without having archived / backup it from time to time...

And to that point, I'm not clear on why any DJ would be managing their playlists and collection entirely on the export device without regularly updating the rekordbox collection with the changes.

I understand if you're worried about losing histories, but again, regular connection back to rekordbox would sync that data.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I'm kicking myself I didn't make a back up, i can't change that now, just can't belive that in this day in age with the technology and software available there isn't a fix for this situation??? My RX2 player playlist shows fine so it's ok for the player to recognize there's something there but there's no workaround so I can't export that information back onto my pc even as a failsafe, say in Ableton if something crashes it auto saves any project. A suggestion maybe have option to have an scheduled backup setting on options set to either monthly or weekly, just some insurance there if you set that up in beginning when you first download RB.

@johny > Just so you're clear -- rekordbox is warning you about the export device, this has nothing to do with the main collection.

I've asked the engineers if there is any way to recover the data or bypass the warning, I'll let you know what they have to say.

@pioneer

Following up on your previous comment on March 2019. I have a similar problem with a corrupted databased on my usb device where my full collection is stored.

Just updated rekorbox to the latest version and the problem still remains. When do you expect the new version to be ready to recover my data?

This is a big issue for me right now as I have a gig in two days.

Please let me know what to do step by step.

Thanks

@Caroline > Sorry to hear about that problem, but unfortunately the only way to recover from that would be to fully format the drive and re-export. If that's the drive where you have your collection stored (and presumably the database?), you should certainly have a backup copy somewhere ... if not, my recommendation would be to move the music and database off that drive before wiping it.
