DJM 250 MK2 record out cannot be used outside of rekorbox

I recently purchased a DJM 250 MK2 to replace an old 2-channel Numark I had used for many years.  The DJM 250 MK2 is missing one major feature which is an RCA record out.  Instead it has only a USB out which I expected could be used as a replacement.

The USB out works seamlessly with rekordbox; I have no complaints about that.  However I also stream a weekly radio program from my mixer.  In the past I hooked up my Numark's RCA record out to a simple USB audio interface and connected that to my laptop.  Since the MK2 does not have an RCA record out I figured I could connect the USB out directly to my computer and use my broadcasting software like I always have.  Unfortunately the MK2 USB setup only seems to work inside of rekordbox.  When I try to set the audio input on my broadcasting software to DJM 250 LINE IN there is no audio signal.

I have scoured these forums for solutions to this problem and I have found many other people with similar complaints but no solutions. I even tried this incredibly complicated workaround but was not able to get it to work:

https://forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004806423-Streaming-with-OBS-DJM-Windows-

My final solution is to hookup the DJM RCA master out to my USB audio interface and connect that to my computer.  Obviously this is not ideal because I cannot listen to the master out through my speakers.  If anyone has solved this problem in the past then please let me know.  Otherwise let this post serve as a notice to all DJM 250 MK2 users and buyers that this model cannot be used an an audio input oustide of rekordbox.

@James > That's because the DJM-250MK2 uses an ASIO driver and your software likely does not, thus it's not able to get any channels beyond the first pair (where the REC OUT is typically 5&6). You can try changing the setting for the first pair to carry the REC OUT signal as well:

...but the most likely solution is the guide I created above (your link).

And yes, it does work outside of rekordbox.

Hi Pulse.  Thanks for getting back to me.  I tried setting USB 1/2 to record out but that did not work, as you clearly expected.  I'm surprised that Pioneer's response to an RCA record out is to download 3 programs each of which needs to be reconfigured every time you decide to use them.  I sincerely regret purchasing this unit over the Allen & Heath Xone:23.

If your software supported ASIO drivers, it wouldn't be a problem.

Wonderful - could you share a broadcasting software I can use that supports ASIO drivers?

Unfortunately there are none that I am aware of, which is why I provided instructions to use 3rd party software like Voicemeeter as a work-around.

I see.  So when you said it wouldn't be a problem if my software supported ASIO drivers, you really meant if any software supported ASIO drivers.  I think another workable solution would be for Pioneer to sell a product that doesn't require the use of drivers which are only compatible with their proprietary software, aka rekordbox.

For those keeping score, DJM 250 MK2 still incompatible with any software outside of rekordbox.  Next time please just put an RCA record out on the machine.  Thanks.

James, ASIO (Asynchronous Stream Input/Output) is used for audio devices which employ multiple audio input/output channels, it's fairly standard, and many professional audio applications use it. I'm sorry you're unable to use the work-arounds as described, but they do work outside of rekordbox.

Thank you "James Allen" for your tip, how to use an audio interface to be abel to record the work at the Pioneer mixer.

I have the same problem: bought me an DJM 450 with USB, thinking it would be easy to record the things done with the mixer. No way. Finally I adapted my old Mac Mini to OS 10.11 and then I could install Recordbox.

But something is still going wrong. Perhaps I didn't made attention that the system requirements talk of an Intel processor i3, i5, i7 and my old Mac Mini only use an Intel Core 2 Duo, the recording stops after 20 seconds (some times) or do not record in the EXPORT mode.

That are unliked inconveniences, but the really problem is, that my recordings are impossible to use, because a high crickle noises are distroying th recordings. I tried to find solucion by the way to put the electric plugs all in the same line ore look to find a good grounding for all the electric equipment... still didn't find any solution.

Now I will try the "Allen" way, evoiding Recordbox and use an 20 euro audio interface... and sometimes I thought about to sell my new and first Pioneer and look for an Numark with rec out.

Beg your pardon for my huff about the "unliked inconveniences" of my installation. Today I red a Pioneer note, that my operating system 'El Capitan' doesn't work fine with rekordbox and better not try it to use. I will give up to find out a way making it work. But still believe that James Alles is wright: "...Next time please just put an RCA record out on the machine."  Thank you. Also in the name of all the Pioneer clients who bought a brand new model with a common USB port for dating exchange.

Hi James Allen,

I actually encountered the exact same problem as you and found this thread whilst looking for an answer on how to fix it. Other than being pretty annoyed at the Pioneer 'Support' persons dismissive and un-helpful comments above I set about on a mission to try and find a fix for this myself - and I did (without the super long work around).

Some time has passed since you encountered this issue so you may well have found the fix yourself or have just completely given up.

If this message reaches you, or anyone else who has encountered this problem, feel free to contact me on Facebook (as I wont be engaging in these forums)

My name is Will Taljaard (shouldn't be too hard to find me as there aren't many of us haha).

Just for reference, I am using a Macbook running High Sierra (10.13.6) so my fix might only work for this particular OS but I perhaps it's universal.
